The Pink Lady and Pink Ribbon cocktails
And these statistics are not untouched by some of the most familiar faces in the industry. Giuliana Rancic, Wanda Sykes and Christina Applegate have all battled breast cancer. Just last month, author Judy Blume described her own diagnosis, "How is this possible? Well, guess what – it's possible."
In honor of National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, which spans October, the Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts is whipping up girly beverages across the country as part of a Drink Pink promotion, which will donate a percentage of the proceeds from the campaign to local breast cancer-awareness charities. Support the cause – one sip at a time – with these recipes below.
The Pink Lady
Four Seasons Hotel Washington, DC; charity: Center for Breast Health at the Cancer Institute at MedStar Washington Hospital Center
• 1.5 oz. gin (recipe recommends Plymouth Gin)
• ½ oz. apple brandy
• ½ fresh lemon
• ½ oz. grenadine
• ½ egg white
Shake all ingredients. Garnish with lemon twist (roughly shaped like the pink ribbon symbol of breast cancer awareness).
Pink Ribbon
Four Seasons Hotel Los Angeles; charity: Susan G. Komen for the Cure
• 2 oz. Pisco
• 1 oz. lemon sour
• ½ oz. cranberry juice
• ½ oz. hibiscus infusion
• ½ oz. egg white
• 1 dash Meyer lemon-lemongrass tincture
For hibiscus infusion, pour two cups of water in a saucepan. Bring to a boil, and then simmer with one cup of dried hibiscus over medium-low heat for 10 minutes. Add one cup of sugar and stir until dissolved. Remove from heat and let cool.
