Tuesday's second night of the Battle Rounds on The Voice made for some intense duos between contestants and brought out the passion from the coaches.

Team Adam's Caitlin Michele and Melanie Martinez surprised the coaches by packing two very different, yet powerful, punches. Christina Aguilera praised both for their sweet, haunting take on Ellie Goulding's "Lights."

Every coach had difficulty choosing between the distinctive songstresses, but Adam Levine stuck with Martinez and her breathy, soft vocals. Cee Lo Green and Blake Shelton fought it out for the honor of bringing Michele and her bold, clear tone to their teams, with Green coming out the winner.

This was the second time Michele passed on Team Blake, much to Shelton's dismay.

Another captivating performance came from Aguilera's Aquile and Nathalie Martinez. Both sang James Morrison's "You Make It Real" and complemented each other. Aguilera chose Aquile, but was sad to see Martinez go. "Proud of @nathalie_FLgirl for proving herself and stepping up to the plate. You have so much ahead of you!" Aguilera Tweeted.

Not all the battles had the coaches on their feet, however. Cody Belew and Domo performed Lady Gaga's pop anthem "Telephone" to mixed reviews. Levine applauded Domo for her upbeat rhythm, but Green suggested that both the performers could have focused more on the feeling of the song than the accompanying choreography. Domo was confident about her performance during rehearsals, but it was Belew who ultimately impressed Green, securing his spot on Team Cee Lo.

Celica Westbrook also beat out Lisa Scinta on Team Christina with Kelly Clarkson's "My Life Would Suck Without You." Rudy Parris remains on Team Blake after battling Charlie Rey in their rendition of Daniel Powter's "Bad Day."
