Blake Shelton has a gift that, by her own admission, his wife, Miranda Lambert, just doesn't have.

And that gift is exactly why the "Automatic" singer doesn't host award shows like her husband is doing at Sunday's Academy of Country Music Awards.

"My comedic timing isn't good," Lambert, 30, told PEOPLE Country on the eve of the awards. "You know, the timing you naturally have to have. Blake is the best. I don't know how he does it."

While Shelton is nominated for five awards, on top of his hosting duties, Lambert will be plenty busy herself, with seven ACM nominations.

But with all that practice onstage – usually with a newly won award in her hand – Lambert says there is "no desire" to try her hand at hosting.

"I'm not good at that stuff not at all," she said. "I would totally fall flat on my face."

The Academy of Country Music Awards will air Sunday at 8 p.m. on CBS.
