Princess Kate's Perky Pony Is the Perfect Hairstyle for Your Holiday

11/25/2014 at 05:34 PM ET

Kate Beckinsale isn’t the only famous Brit perfecting her ponytail game. Princess Kate stepped out with a pretty, pulled-back style Tuesday while fundraising on behalf of her charity in Norwich, Norfolk, and it’s giving us some Thanksgiving day hair inspiration. (And also getting us psyched for her upcoming visit to the United States.)

Kate skipped her usual blown-out waves for a loose pony with volume in the crown and undone, slightly-messy texture in the back. (Yes, royals can do messy too.)

And we’d like to think the expectant star did this herself (if you look closely, it’s not perfectly even in the front!), because we want to try out a similar style this holiday weekend. So we reached out to celeb hairstylist Sarah Potempa for some tips. Catch her rundown below:

Step 1: Smooth hair and add volume by bending your wrist while using a heated styling tool (Potempa’s Ceramic Styling Iron with blowout attachments is an editor favorite).

Step 2: Section hair from the top of the crown and back brush each section. Make sure to use hairspray to add volume to hair at root.

Step 3: Take hair from the crown and smooth into a ponytail, leaving the sides out.

Step 4: Create side part and brush side pieces over the ponytail. Secure with elastic over the first ponytail, this will keep volume on top while keeping the sides smooth.

Step 5: Spritz with hairspray (Potempa suggests Aussie’s Mega spray) to finish, leaving a long, lasting hold all day.

The Obamas Are Eating More Pie Than You Could Imagine on Thanksgiving

11/27/2014 at 07:30 PM ET

The Taste

Stewart Shining

If your Thanksgiving dinner is lacking in pie, it’s because the Obama family has a monopoly on all the pies in America!

After the First Family chows down on the turkey that was not pardoned for its crime of “having delicious bird parts,” as Last Week Tonight host John Oliver put it, they’re going to have some pretty incredible pastries!

The dessert menu, created by the White House’s first-ever female pastry chef, Susan E. Morrison, sounds incredible.

The President, his wife, Michelle, their daughters, Malia, 16, Sasha, 13, and the rest of their guests will get to choose from banana cream, coconut cream, pumpkin, apple, pecan and cherry pies.

(But really, why choose? Is six slices really too many?)

But will they really have room for pie after a Thanksgiving meal that includes thyme-roasted turkey, honey-baked ham, cornbread stuffing, oyster stuffing, braised winter greens, macaroni and cheese, sweet potato gratin, mashed potatoes, green bean casserole and dinner rolls. We hope they’re wearing their comfy pants!

On Wednesday, the President decreed, in the White House’s most baffling holiday tradition, that turkeys Mac and Cheese would be pardoned and, having been spared “from a terrible and delicious fate,” will live out long, healthy lives at Turkey Hill, a farm in Leesburg, Virginia.

Anthony Carbajal, ALS Ice Bucket Challenge Viral Star, Shares Touching Wedding Photos

If you haven’t seen Anthony Carbajal’s ALS Ice Bucket Challenge, grab a box of Kleenex and watch it here. Then keep that box of Kleenex handy, because the 26-year-old (who is living with ALS) just got married, and we have a look at his gorgeous wedding photos.

Anthony Carbajal wedding Brides magazineSam Hurd

Carbajal, whose mother also suffers from the disease, shared his story over the summer to help raise awareness and fundraising for the cause. His ice bucket challenge now has more than 16 million views.

Because of his condition, he was apprehensive about asking girlfriend Laarne Palec to marry him.

“I was cautious to ask Laarne to spend the rest of her life with me because this disease requires a lot of care,” Carbajal tells Brides (which helped the couple throw their dream wedding). “I don’t want to be a burden on anyone. But throughout my diagnosis, Laarne made it clear that she wasn’t going to leave my side.”

He adds, “She told me that she wanted to be with me through the good and the bad that’s inevitable. Then I got down on my knee and proposed. Having her tell me that she loves me unconditionally was priceless and I think, looking back, I needed that.”

The couple married on the scene of their first date, back to the Grind Coffee Shop in Riverside, California, and created a warm environment for their guests, who sat at long wooden benches. They also eschewed a formal seating chart and place cards for an open seating plan so everyone could mingle. Carbajal selected a brown suit and plaid tie, and his bride stunned in a white silk gown with beading at the shoulders.

“We just wanted all of loved ones to feel like they were at home, have a good time and celebrate our love with us,” Carbajal says.

What’s he most excited for now that he’s a married man? “Laarne’s family is very conservative. So I’m looking forward to going on a family vacation and sleeping in the same room together,” Carbajal shares. “I look forward to having a place to call our own and getting a dog. I’m just excited to wake up with her every morning and have a cup of coffee.”

And his will to live is even stronger. “I’m doing whatever I can to change my outcome and be on this earth longer with Laarne,” he says. “I think that’s the hardest thing — I found my soulmate and ALS might take me away from her earlier.”

Amy Poehler Plays a Pop Star in Her Final Old Navy Ad: Catch a Behind-the-Scenes Clip!

11/21/2014 at 06:00 PM ET

Amy Poehler’s Old Navy ads may be the rare commercial that has you turn the TV off of mute. She’s played an unprofessional judge, a rude reservationist, a snooty art store critic, and now she’s finally embracing the role she was born to play: A pop diva playing to an auditorium devoid of fans. (Surprise! They’re all at Old Navy’s Black Friday sale!)

Amy Poehler Michael Simon/Startraks (2)

In behind-the-scenes footage, Poehler acknowledged that her time as the brand’s face was wrapping up, but said it was all worth it in the service of the ultimate goal: stringing the ads together at the end to blow your mind. “There’s an Easter Egg in each one and it all has a narrative theme if you pay attention. These commercials are like a season of The Wire. And they all make sense at the end,” she jokes. “If you watch these commercials with the soundtrack of Pink Floyd, then it makes sense. In each one of these commercials is an Illuminati reference.”

McKellar paired her tulle, off-the-shoulder Alfred Angelo mermaid-style dress with a crystal headband that coordinated with the beading on the skirt of her gown. She also draped a string of orchids around her neck for the 6:30 a.m. sunrise ceremony.

“Doing the waltz in my wedding gown was certainly a challenge,” the former Dancing With the Stars contestant told PEOPLE.

Sveslosky also wore all white — from his suit to his shoes — to go with the beach-vibe of the couple’s nuptials.

“It was absolutely magical,” McKellar shared. “The forecast predicted rain, but there was not a drop of water in the clear sky. The sun came peaking up over the mountains just as I was walking down the aisle, alongside both my parents.”

The couple married in front of 25 family members and close friends, including their two sons, Hunter (Sveslosky’s from a previous marriage), 10, and Draco (McKellar’s with ex-husband Mike Verta), 4.

“Scott and I exchanged our vows, and then we exchanged family vows with our sons Hunter and Draco — we wrote everything ourselves,” she said. “We also performed a sand ceremony where the four of us poured different colored sand into a vase which we will keep at home.”

Cindy Crawford's Daughter Kaia Gerber Doesn't 'See Resemblance' to Her Mom

11/19/2014 at 06:25 PM ET

Kaia Gerber has great genes. The 13-year-old daughter of Cindy Crawford and husband Randy Gerber just landed her first magazine shoot in the December/January issue of Teen Vogue, and she opens up on a future in modeling (she nabbed a campaign with Versace at 10!), her famous family and growing up with her mom’s friends “Christy, Naomi and Linda.” (Totally normal childhood.)

Kaia Gerber Teen VogueCourtesy Teen Vogue

So is Kaia heading down the catwalk anytime soon? She’s not ready to commit to anything big just yet.

“I’ve seen my mom do it, and it seems exhausting,” she says in the interview. “It’s not easy — you’re in heels all the time and constantly having to dress up. If that’s your job, jeans and a T-shirt are all you really dream of.”

And her mom shares a similar mentality. “She doesn’t want me to start a career too young,” Kaia says. “She started modeling when she was 16, but that world is very different now.”

Crawford has also hesitated on giving her daughter too much input when it comes to modeling.

“She knows so much about it,” Kaia explains. “I think it would be hard for her to be on set and not say things like, ‘Psst, Kaia, put your elbow up.’”

The young star loves to model clothes from her mom’s wardrobe (and her younger brother shares snaps of their joint modeling session on Instagram), but reveals she doesn’t really “see the resemblance,” adding, “but everyone says it’s there, so I trust them.”

She also reminisces about growing up surrounded by “really pretty women” named “Christy [Turlington], Naomi [Campbell], and Linda [Evangelista].”

“At the time, I didn’t realize they were all part of that era,” Kaia shares. “Now it’s cool to look at pictures of Mom when she was closer to my age.”

Mike Nichols made his directing debut with the Broadway hit starring Robert Redford. ''After the first 15 minutes of opening night, I thought, 'This is what I was meant to do!' Kendall Jenner Reveals the Best Beauty Tips She Learned from Her Sisters

11/19/2014 at 04:36 PM ET

Kendall Jenner had to keep her big Estée Lauder contract a secret from the world for a few months, but there was one person she had to confide in: her mom Kris Jenner, who (of course) was thrilled.

“My mom was the only person I told,” Kendall tells fellow Estée spokesmodel Joan Smalls in a new interview for the cosmetics label’s blog. “She was crying, but then she cries at everything.”

The 19-year-old model also opened up about how her sisters’ skill with makeup influenced her own routine growing up. “Randomly enough, my older sisters went to a makeup school when they were younger, so they’re all really good at it,” she says. “They’ve always told me that ‘natural is better.’”

RELATED: A Look Back at Kendall Jenner’s Stylish Year

As for celebrity inspiration, she calls Angelina Jolie “ridiculously beautiful,” and looks to Rosie Huntington-Whiteley and Rihanna for style cues.

When it comes to her mani MO, you won’t see Kendall walking around with super-long pointy tips like her sisters Khloé and Kylie. She tends to be more classic.

“I like to keep it really neutral with nudes and grays,” she says. “But if I’m going on vacation, I like color. My favorite polishes are royal blue or red.”

One thing she does have in common with her sisters: a love for selfies. Kendall’s Instagram is like a master class in pretty photos. What are her tips?

“Lighting is a big thing. If you’re not in the right light it just won’t work,” she explains. “I’m not into using too many filters, either. I like to keep it pretty natural or black and white is always cool. But above all, you have to know your face: everybody has their good side. And practice! Practice makes perfect.”

PEOPLE Style Editors Designed 3 Makeup Pouches (There's One for Beyoncé Fans!)

11/20/2014 at 06:00 AM ET

We’re so excited to share these zip pouches with you! Editors here at PEOPLE came up with three fun sayings, which are printed on the designs. And we also dreamt up the look of the mini carryalls: canvas with a rose-gold dipped-paint effect and a matching rose-gold zipper. They’re perfect for toting around makeup, but they’re cute enough to use as a casual clutch. Oh, and by the way, the pouches are just 35 bucks, but each one comes stuffed with over $100 worth of beauty products. Can you say, perfect holiday gift? (Can you also say, uhh, I’m keeping this for myself?)

You have three choices in pouches — “Hello, Beautiful,” “Lipstick & Mascara & Bronzer & Confidence” and the Beyoncé-inspired “I Woke Up Like This” — and all three cost $35. (They cost less than $30 if you’re a first-time Joyus shopper and you enter STYLE15 at checkout.)

And like we said, each pouch is loaded up with beauty products we love:

-Bliss Incredi-peel packet

-Klorane 50 mL dry shampoo

-Verso 5 mL night cream

-Eve Lom 5 mL cleansing balm

-Supergoop 10 mL SPF30 sunscreen

-MD Creme 0.17 oz beauty balm

-Tan Towel Classic half-body packet

-Pinrose Renegade Starlet perfume

-Pinrose Surf Siren perfume

-Pinrose Treehouse Royal perfume

-Molliderm cream

-Goldfaden 5 mL “Bright Eyes”

-Jouer 4.5 mL lip enhancer

-Dermadoctor 30 mL KP Duty lotion

That’s enough to seriously upgrade someone’s stocking experience on Christmas morning. We plan to get one pouch for ourselves, get one for a friend then use all the goodies to throw in a sister or cousin’s stocking. Or, you know, maybe just keep all the freebies for ourselves. What can we say? We’re selfish when it comes to great beauty products.

Order the pouches here and when you get yours, take a photo and post it on Instagram, tagging @peoplestylewatchmag and @hellojoyus — we’d love to see (and double-tap) your shot!

Soleil Moon Frye Calls Life with Three Kids 'Crazy'

11/20/2014 at 10:00 AM ET

Now that she’s a mom of three, Soleil Moon Frye admits life can be a little hectic.

“It’s crazy and it’s amazing to be going through it all over again, but it’s definitely an adventure,” Frye, who recently welcomed her now 9-month-old son, Lyric Sonny Roads, told PEOPLE at the TOMS for Target Holiday Partnership event on Nov. 12.

Luckily for Frye, her daughters Poet Sienna Rose, 9, and Jagger Joseph Blue, 6½ — who joined their mom for a night out in L.A. — have been a huge help.

“It’s so crazy now with three, juggling, but then I have these two little helpers that are constantly my support system,” shares Frye, 38.

But even though her daughters have happily stepped into their big sister roles, the mother-daughter trio enjoyed a much-needed all-girl evening out. “[Lyric's] at home tonight,” says Frye.

“We almost brought him, but we decided that it was better to stay at home with Dad,” she adds with a laugh.

When they’re not having fun at events, the former Punky Brewster star admits her family of five keeps her busy.

“[Poet's] in third grade. [Jagger's] in first grade … The baby is crawling all around and trying to walk. It’s just craziness,” Frye says.

But all the juggling is well worth it: The actress is in awe of the lessons she continues to learn from her little ones.

“My girls are constantly teaching me [and] constantly inspiring me,” she shares.

“On the way here they said, ‘Mommy, we want to work with the homeless and do good and help others,’ ” explains Frye. “They’re always aware of giving back … they’re constantly sharing and giving … so I couldn’t be more proud as a mom.”

Tia Mowry Gets Braids While Tamera Mowry Rocks Her Natural Curls: PHOTOS

11/19/2014 at 05:46 PM ET

They may no longer be wearing matching scrunchied half-ponies, but Tia and Tamera Mowry are still syncing up their hair changes a bit. Both stars debuted new looks in the past week or so — and we’re loving the equally lovely (but very different) looks.

First up, Tia, who’s been wearing her hair straight and shoulder-length for a few months. She made a major change two weeks ago, however, when she debuted long braids on her Instagram. “I’m starting to tap into all my fears, and one of the things I’ve always wanted to do was have braids. It’s completely out of left field for me,” Mowry says. “I grew up watching [Lisa Bonet] on the Cosbys and she was the girl on television that I could identify with — she looked like me! I always loved her boho vibe. So I just thought what the hell, lets do it!”

The style, which took seven hours to complete, was a huge hit — especially with her son, Cree. “My son wakes up to me every morning saying, Mommy your hair is ‘berry berry’ pretty,” she shares. “I love that the braids show a different, edgier side of who I am. I’m having so much fun with this hair! It’s easy and it’s a great accessory in itself.”

RELATED PHOTOS: See even more major celeb hair change-ups!

Tamera, meanwhile, showed off her curly, short crop on talk show The Real. Said Tamera on the show, “Growing up on TV, you guys saw my natural hair … Throughout the years, I always straightened it, blew-dry it, put a hot comb to it. I went through a really rough patch with my hair that I had to do the ‘Big Chop,’ which is basically chopping all of your damaged hair off and starting anew.”

She admits, “I was a little nervous, because not many people are used to seeing me like this,” but continues that she — and her husband — both love the cut. “I love it!” she said. “My husband loves her hair. He’d rather me wear my hair curly all day, every day than to straighten it, and that makes me feel great.” On Instagram, she gave a shout out to “curl doctor” Shai Amiel and reiterated her enthusiasm for her new do — but she did mention one drawback: Strangers can’t stop touching her natural locks. “They’re all up in your business, like, ‘Hey!’ And you’re like ‘Oh wait, no,’” she said.

Julianne Hough's DWTS Photo Diary: Week 10 Featured a Puppy Cameo!

11/18/2014 at 01:39 PM ET

Dancing with the Stars judge Julianne Hough returned to a favorite designer — and a go-to hue — for her elegant 1930s-inspired gown during this week’s episode.

Julianne Hough DWTS styleCourtesy Julianne Hough

Hough returned to a favorite designer, Jenny Packham, for her elegant beaded gown. “Jenny Packham is one of my ‘go to’ designers. It’s very rare I try on one of her dresses without falling in love with it,” Hough tells PEOPLE. “This whole look has a very Ginger Rogers 1930s vibe, with our own modern twist. We ‘blinged’ it out a little with these simple and elegant Aspiri diamond studs.”

Styling advice came courtesy of Anita Patrickson, who says she was excited to contrast Hough’s “strong sleek looks” of late with a much girlier look. “It made me want to see Fred Astaire twirl Julianne around under a starry sky!” she says. “Jules loved it … The green is so gorgeous with her coloring and of course the fabulous shoulders are the perfect focal point for sitting at the judges’ panel!”

RELATED: See all things Dancing with the Stars right here!

Patrickson points out that it can be challenging to keep a look fashion-forward with a face like Hough’s: “Julianne is a really insanely beautiful girl and sometime the prettier you are the easier it is to lose the fashion-y side,” she says. So hairstylist Riawna Capri and makeup artist Spencer Barnes made sure to keep her beauty look romantic without being too soft to keep everything focused.

“I love braiding hair, then deconstructing it to create a more effortless vibe,” says Capri. “Pulling apart the braid to make it look fat is my favorite part!” And when Barnes could get to her in between puppy smooches (she had a guest Labrador this week in addition to her trailer fixtures, Lexi and Harley), he gave her a “effortless, romantic and classy” look with the help of Kevyn Aucoin’s “The Celestial Skin Liquid Lighting” in “Candlelight” and peachy lips and cheeks. “She was super happy with the look — she exclaimed, ‘This is like wedding makeup!’” he tells PEOPLE, adding of his client’s getting-ready hijinks, “Julianne had us laughing and entertained when she started dancing around the hair and makeup trailer as she fringe whipped us with her fantastic Tommy Hilfiger fringed poncho dress. I tell you, Julianne is pure sunshine!”

Victoria's Secret Model Sam Sampaio Addresses Body-Shaming Bullies

11/18/2014 at 09:00 AM ET

Models have insecurities too. Victoria’s Secret and Sports Illustrated star Sara Sampaio wanted to remind her Instagram followers of that, posting an emotional message on her feed to speak out against body-shaming commenters. But Sampaio’s thoughts are being viewed by some as hypocritical.

Sara Sampaio Victoria's SecretCourtesy Sara Sampaio

“I’m proud of my body and I’m not gonna let any of you bully me just because I’m skinny! Every body is different, and every metabolism is different,” she shared along with the above bikini selfie on Instagram.

She continued to defend her weight and diet, adding, “I eat a lot, so next time u decide to tell me to eat a burger remember I probably eat more burgers than you, I’ve always been skinnier, and probably will always be, I workout, I’m healthy and I’m happy.”

Sampaio also explained that she hopes to end the stereotype that models don’t eat, and wants to promote a message about healthy body image to her fans. “The amount of hate I see thrown at me and to other model friends that I know are naturally skinny it’s ridiculous! U don’t see us shaming other types of bodies so please don’t come and shame ours! Be happy with ur body and stop shaming others! Whether they are skinny, fat, fit, with big boobs, small boobs etc! Don’t share hate! Be happy ☺️😊❤️😎”

So what’s the controversy? A few days after she shared her view, Victoria’s Secret posted a video of Sampaio (as part of their promotional roll out for the upcoming fashion show) talking about how she wishes her body was more like fellow Angel, Candice Swanepoel.

“If I put up a picture of Candice, I’m like I want to have that body,” she shares in the clip below, contradicting her previous message. “But not in a million years am I gonna have that body, because my bone structure isn’t built like her.”

Kim Kardashian on Naked Photo Shoot: 'I Wanted to Make Myself Feel Confident'

11/18/2014 at 10:28 AM ET

If Kim Kardashian‘s naked photo shoot for Paper magazine left you with more questions than answers, you’re not alone. But luckily the 34-year-old star is addressing one of the more pressing queries still unanswered: Did she really balance that champagne glass on her backside or was it the magic of Photoshop?

“My back hurt for about a week after that shoot … I used muscles!” Kardashian said coyly during her guest appearance on the Australian show The Project . “[Photographer Jean-Paule Goude] has an art of posing you and it was definitely not comfortable.” (Later in the interview, she taught TV host Rove McManus the same balancing trick, warning him, “You don’t have as big a butt as I do.”)

The star also defended her decision to pose nude, subtly addressing all her critics who felt the shoot was a bad example for her younger fans and her daughter.

“I was so honored and excited to work with [Goude] because he is a legend, and for me that was something I wanted to do to make myself feel confident,” she explained. “As a role model I’m not saying anyone else should do that, but for me it was an art project and it taught me to do what you want to do.”

Kardashian continued, “I’m never one to preach, but I felt really positive and really good about myself. I love the photos, I did it for me. I hope other people like them.”

Right now, the star is Down Under for the launch of her latest fragrance “Fleur Fatale”, debuting the scent Monday in Melbourne wearing a super-shiny latex-looking corset dress with a major view of her assets — continuing her reign as the queen of the “If you got it, flaunt it,” philosophy.

11/17/2014 AT 10:15 PM EST

The final five couples took to the stage for this week's Dancing with the Stars semi-finals, and while each duo had impressive performances, one couple had to be sent home. This week Tommy Chong and Peta Murgatroyd took their final bows on the dance floor after performing two dances to different types of music – one plugged and the other unplugged – for this week's theme.

"I've just showed that old stoners can perform when they need to!" joked Chong during his final send-off.

Here's how the couples fared:

Round One

Sadie Robertson and Mark Ballas. After having her confidence shaken last week, Robertson seemed to be back in the groove performing a quickstep to Ariana Grande's "Problem." "I found nothing I didn't like about the whole dance!" remarked judge Len Goodman. Score: 37 out of 40

Tommy Chong and Peta Murgatroyd. The duo's sexy jazz dance to "Tainted Love" got positive feedback – but mediocre scores – from the judges. "You're the MVP of this season," said judge Carrie Ann Inaba. Even Goodman gave the wildcard couple strong remarks, and admitted to the actor, "I couldn't have done what you've done." Score: 28

Bethany Mota and Derek Hough. The YouTube star's playful samba got mixed reviews from the judges. "Well done," said judge Bruno Tonioli. "Very different, very effective." Inaba wasn't as impressed, saying she "felt a little underwhelmed by it," (though she still gave them a 9). Score: 36

Janel Parrish and Val Chmerkovskiy. The couple's dramatic paso doble earned them the first perfect score of the night. "I felt like you guys were one, and girl, you are in it to win it," said judge Julianne Hough. "You set the stage on fire!" exclaimed Tonioli. Score: 40

Alfonso Ribeiro and Witney Carson. Despite suffering a back injury last week, the actor hit the semi-final stage to perform an Argentine tango and made it all the way through before shedding a few tears from the pain. The judges commended him for dancing through his discomfort. "Pain is temporary, glory lasts forever," said Goodman. "You're a fighter and that's what showed tonight," added Hough. Score: 36

Round Two

Sadie Robertson and Mark Ballas. The couple showcased a strong second dance, performing an innovative Argentine tango that utilized a guitar as part of the choreography. "It was a terrific routine," said Goodman. Score: 37

Tommy Chong and Peta Murgatroyd. "America's favorite" dancer Chong returned to the stage for a heartfelt and sweet rumba routine that brought Hough and Inaba both to tears. "There was something so magical and fantastical about that piece," Hough commented. "It was your best performance," said Tonioli. Score: 34

Bethany Mota and Derek Hough. The duo earned the night's second perfect score for their beautiful stripped-down contemporary number. "It was breathtaking," gushed Inaba. "That was picture-perfect," added Hough. Score: 40

Janel Parrish and Val Chmerkovskiy. The Pretty Little Liars star brought her A-game to the Argentine tango, showing impeccable technique along with some impressive lifts – though they didn't impress everyone. "The lifts bugged me," remarked Inaba. "It was a bit ungraceful." Score: 38

Alfonso Ribeiro and Witney Carson. Ribeiro ended the night on a high note, and showed no signs of his injury while performing a powerful contemporary dance to an unplugged version of OneRepublic's "Love Runs Out." "My admiration knows no bounds," said Goodman. "It was just terrific." Score: 39

After Kim Richards's beloved pit bull Kingsley attacked her niece, Alexia Umansky, earlier this month, the The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star has temporarily removed the dog from her home.

"He's in a good place," Richards told TMZ on Saturday. "He's safe and with a trainer."

But the decision to send her dog away didn't come easy, despite a total of five reported incidents where Kingsley attacked humans.

"At this point I am looking into options to what the next step is for Kingsley," Richards, 50, said in a statement received by the New York Post after Kim's sister, Kyle (who also appears on the show), confirmed that her daughter had been bitten.

"Regarding Alexia: She was attacked by a dog and has to have surgery. As always, she is trying to make the best out of a bad situation. Thank you for your thoughts & well wishes," Richards posted on Facebook Nov. 4.

Despite the animal's aggressive behavior, it doesn't appear that the mom of four – who got the dog to be her companion once her children moved out of the house – has any plans to put him down.

"As many of you can relate, he is my best friend," says Richards. "This is a very difficult decision and time for all of us, but the safety of my family always comes first."

Just when we thought the Knowles family couldn't possibly get any cooler, Solange Knowles went ahead and married video director Alan Ferguson in New Orleans on Sunday in the most hipster-glam-chic wedding imaginable.

Ferguson, 51, has a long list of collaborators, including John Legend and Katy Perry, but he has also done a fair amount of work for his new in-laws, directing the videos for Beyoncé's songs "Party" and "Dance for You," as well as some of Jay Z's older hits, like "Feelin' It."

The newlyweds are famously private, but here are three things to know about the man who has been dating Knowles since 2008.

1. Knowles pursued him.

In a 2013 interview, Knowles revealed that she had gone after Ferguson from the start.

"In the beginning, I was the one who approached him, so I have always sort of historically been one of those girls that goes after something that I'm into," she said. "I'm not very old school and like, I'm not gonna wait on you. Wait for you to approach me type of situation."

2. Ferguson grew up in a military family.

Ferguson and his two brothers are sons of Winifred Hocker Ferguson of Richmond, Virginia., and the late William Alfred Ferguson Sr., The New York Times reports. His father was an Army veteran and letter carrier for the U.S. Postal Service.

3. He's not on social media.

A rarity in today's society, no Instagram or Twitter account can be found for Ferguson, and Knowles likes it that way. She posted a picture of her beau to Instagram in September 2012, captioning it, "Morning Smile. @mysocialnetworklessman."
