Cue the glitter!

Neil Patrick Harris revealed the poster art for his starring role in the upcoming Broadway production of Hedwig and the Angry Inch on his Twitter account Tuesday, and it's sure to get tongues wagging.

"Hedwig News! The first ad image was just released, and I get to debut it!" the popular Tony host wrote.

Looking very Rocky Horror punk in heavy eye makeup, ice-blue lips and loads of glitter, Harris, 40, certainly captures the look of Hedwig, an East German transgender rocker searching for love and fulfillment in America.

The cult role, made famous by John Cameron Mitchell on stage and in the movie, is a departure for the How I Met Your Mother star and father of 2-year-old twins Gideon Scott and Harper Grace, with partner David Burtka.

"I am simultaneously ecstatic and terrified to be stepping into Hedwig's high heels," Harris said in June.

The Broadway production, directed by Tony winner Michael Mayer, will begin previews March 29 at the Belasco Theatre, with an official opening set for April 22, according to The Hollywood Reporter .

Stephen Trask wrote the music and lyrics for the long-running hit. Mitchell wrote the book.

It has been a decade since Harris appeared on stage, when he starred in the Tony-winning revival of the musical Assassins.
