Once you’re finished checking out Katy Perry‘s maybe-possibly-engagement ring, we’ve got some more Perry style speculation to engage in. This time, we want to discuss her brand new do.
The singer stepped out this weekend on the arm of her love John Mayer sporting two noteworthy additions: The aforementioned ring, and a new shorter cut with bangs and blunt ends — a look she debuted on her Instagram (photo below). Our first reaction was “Must be a wig;” after all, the singer changes up her look as much as Lady Gaga, and her Cleopatra character in the new video for “Dark Horse” has a similar style, so we assumed Perry was just having a little fun with her alter ego’s look.

But after seeing her in the same chop for a few days now, we’re wondering if her hair change isn’t actually permanent. She’s styled it with curls and kerchiefs, jeweled headbands and stick-straight strands, and she appears to be totally comfortable with the new do. It also works well with her new, more laid-back vibe; the whole look is very “Low Maintenance Katy,” which is why we’re intrigued to see if this style sticks.
