We have some bets going in the office about what the Duchess of Cambridge will wear on her Royal Tour of New Zealand and Australia. Correction: We have some bets going on what she’ll re-wear. Kate is the queen of shopping her own wardrobe, so we’re almost positive some of our favorite past looks will be popping up.
So we went back in time to pick the outfits we’d most like to see again. From one surprisingly sexy gown to the purple-and-white dress that drove the “Copy Kates” into a frenzy, see the designs we hope Kate recycles.
Brittany Talarico, Associate Style Editor: True story: I tried to track this Jenny Packham gown down in white for my wedding dress. But during my hunt, I fell in love with another gown, which was probably best because I’m not on Kate’s budget. I remember being completely captivated when Kate wore this ethereal teal design (see it from all angles here) to an Olympic-themed concert at the Royal Albert Hall in 2012. The teal color, plunging neckline, embellished waist and sheer back have all the makings of a show-stopping, head-turning look. And since she has a habit of repeating some of her best dresses (the Roland Mouret above, as well as this Temperley London creation), I think it’s time she brought her Packham back for one of the formal occasions on her agenda. And I think she should also wear her hair up again, to show off the killer lace detailing.
Andrea Lavinthal, Style Director: We always expect Kate to look impeccable, but edgy? Not so much. That’s why it was such a thrill for the fashion industry when she chose a digital floral-print design from Prabal Gurung’s Spring/Summer 2012 collection during her tour of Southeast Asia back in September 2012. At the time, Gurung was still an up-and-comer, so having Kate wear his purple-and-white dress was a huge deal. And of course the $1,995 piece reportedly sold out in under an hour. I’d love to see her wear it again, only this time she should ditch the basic black pumps in favor of something more unexpected like these silver Jimmy Choos.

Bronwyn Barnes, Senior Style Editor: We know Kate isn’t afraid to wear the same gown twice, but would she ever attempt a red carpet three-peat? If so, the ivory Roland Mouret gown she wore in 2012 and again in 2013” would be the dress to do it in. After pairing the long-sleeve column with metallic accessories for its debut outing, Kate created a completely new ensemble when she styled it with a $35 Zara statement necklace, black clutch and matching heels. The simple silhouette and leg-baring slit mean endless footwear possibilities! Even if she didn’t pack the Roland Mouret, here’s hoping we’ll see a hair do-over — that 60′s–inspired low ponytail is oh-so-chic.
Alex Apatoff, Style News Editor: We expect to see Kate wearing some local designers on this trip, which is why I have this pretty pink Emilia Wickstead coat dress on the top of my rewear wish list. The New Zealand-born designer makes some of Kate’s most feminine looks, including this perfect-for-spring pleated number that she’s already worn twice. It’s just like Kate — a little girlie and a little sporty — and the sweet color is perfect for this time of year. Fingers crossed for a three-peat!
