Police acted appropriately in arresting Amanda Bynes last Thursday, the New York Police Department said Tuesday, denying the actress's claim that an officer had groped her.

"Internal Affairs investigators have found no evidence to corroborate Ms. Bynes' allegations," the NYPD said in a statement. "To the contrary, a credible civilian witness who was with the officers throughout told investigators that none touched Ms. Bynes inappropriately or otherwise engaged in misconduct at any time."

Bynes, 27, was arrested for allegedly throwing a bong out of her 36th-floor New York apartment window and smoking marijuana in the lobby of her building.

She later claimed on Twitter that the arresting officer "slapped my vagina. Sexual harassment. Big deal."

The actress, who is accused of reckless endangerment and underwent a psychiatric evaluation following her arrest, has said she plans to sue the NYPD for "illegally entering my apartment, lying about drugs on me and lying about me tampering with non existent drug paraphernalia."
