With only three designers left and four days to craft a collection that represents all four seasons, the pressure is on — but there can only be one winner! Who took home the prize? Read on ONLY if you want to find out!
Season four of Project Runway All Stars proved to be the best yet…after all, the talent was unprecedented — and with tough competition comes even tough challenges! The remaining four designers, Dmitry, Helen and Sonjia, are greeted by Alyssa Milano who breaks down the final competition. For the first time ever, they will have to dream up a collection that represents all four seasons — and the All Stars are only getting four days left to pull it all together. Although it seems nearly impossible, she sweetens the deal with a major budget — each designer gets $3,000 towards their collection.
‘Project Runway All Stars’ Winner Dmitry Sholokhov — Season 4 Finale Recap:
As the designers begin to dream up their collections, they design with a specific girl in mind. For Dmitry, his vision is of a collector — a timeless woman who is also edgy. He plays with symmetry in his collection. Helen wants to craft a couture-meets-Wednesday-Adams collection that’s a little sweet and chic with a twist — and it is totally tailored. Sonjia’s girl is sassy and sexy but not too over-the-top — she actually is designing with herself in mind!
The first two days in the studio begin to take a toll on the designers, as they look seriously tired when they head into the workroom on day three — but then they are greeted by an amazing surprise! Angels, (or assistants), have been sent to help them finish their work. Former contestants Fabio, Kate and Jake are waiting for the designers at their stations.
“I’ve never worked so hard in my entire life,” Dmitry says as the show gets closer than ever before.
Runway Day:
The finale show is finally here, and it takes place at Queen Of The Night dinner theatre in NYC at the Diamond Horseshoe. Mira Sorvino and Zac Posen serve as guest judges.
Sonjia goes first and explains the inspiration by her collection, which features lots of prints, lace and sexy silhouettes. Next up, Dmitry sends his collection down the runway, which he describes as “ageless, modern,” — a representation of the cosmopolitan woman. Helen goes last with her feminine, contemporary collection which she titled: “Coco on Wednesday” — I love the play on words there!
Designers speak to the judges one-on-one with their models, critiquing their looks. Sonjia goes first.
Judges Critique The Collections:
“You have proved you can make anything,” Alyssa tells Sonjia. Her yellow coat proves to be the standout piece in the collection.
“You are the master of technique,” Georgina tells Dmitry, as Isaac raves about the ’80s feel in the designs. His white skirt suit is the least favorite of all the judges.
Finally Helen’s ‘femme fatale’ collection is critiqued. “I can see a lot of girls wearing the collection,” Zac says, before adding that he wished she pushed herself a bit more. Isaac seems to be a major fan of the looks — and so am I! Alyssa is especially impressed with her fall looks. Your “two fall looks are my favorite looks of the entire evening,” she says.
When it comes down to making the decision, Isaac finds Helen and her clothes compelling, but overall he nominates her to be taken out of the running, saying the finale show was not her best work — and all of the other judges agree. Personally I really liked her collection so I was surprised they counted her out so quickly.
“She liberates a woman,” Isaac says of Sonjia. Zac adds, “She has a real voice.” Georgina considers Dmitry’s work cool and aloof, but not quite approachable as Sonjia’s. Now this surprises me — I totally thought Dmitry was the favorite going into it.
So, who takes home the prize?
‘Project Runway All Stars’ Season 4 Winner — Dmitry!
Dmitry wins in the end! Throughout the course of the season his work really shined — I’m so not surprised he won! Helen’s ok with being in top three — and rightfully so! She was definitely one of my personal faves. Honestly, I also really loved Sonjia’s fun flare for designing — this is one of the first seasons where I was really into everyone in the top three.
Well done, All Stars!
