We vowed to bring you updates every time the Duchess of Cambridge updates her hair, and boy, are we true to our word. While you were oohing and aahing over her pretty dress and red clutch, we were comparing photos of her hair to other recent pics to see if, in fact, she’s gone darker.

Conclusion? It looks like Kate is rocking a darker do for winter. Her normal hue is a sun-kissed chestnut with subtle blonde highlights, which seem to be totally gone from her glossy new look. Gone are the hints of gray — as well as the center part — that weren’t such a big hit with PEOPLE commenters. Instead, her latest enviable hair update is a dark, shiny mahogany, with less color variation than she’s worn in the past.
