Eric Prydz Picks a New Year's Eve Playlist

Unfortunately not everyone can be in Las Vegas when the ball drops this year, but Eric Prydz is bringing the party to PEOPLE.com readers in advance.

The DJ and producer, 36 – best known for his 2004 hit single, "Call on Me" – is playing a three-hour extended set at Surrender Nightclub on Monday, and he's sharing the tracks he's most excited to spin, including songs from his album, Eric Prydz Presents Pryda.

"I love to play on New Year's Eve because it has that special tension in the air," Prydz says. "People are so excited about the new year coming, leaving the old behind and starting fresh. It's also the perfect excuse to blow off some steam after that long Christmas with family. Let's make New Year's Eve 2013 one to remember!"

Recently scoring a Grammy nomination for his remix of M83's "Midnight City," Prydz, who is relocating to Los Angeles, already predicts 2013 "is going to be an amazing year."

As for his evening playlist, he plans to "blend a lot of the highlights from the past year with classics and brand new music set to blow up in 2013."

Wearing a beanie, hood and sunglasses, Law chilled out by the condiment display while his kids ordered treats of their choice.

"Jude was really sweet to his kids and explained to them how the cupcakes [are made]," an onlooker tells PEOPLE of the Anna Karenina star.

The family left the gourmet bakery with red velvet, vanilla, lemon and whole milk cupcakes.

New Year's Champagne Cocktail Recipes

Ready or not, it's nearly time to ring in 2013. These 13 cocktails – from Elise Loehr, co-owner and sommelier at Nashville's popular F. Scott's Restaurant and Jazz Bar – will add an extra fizz to your New Year's celebration.

"Champagne cocktails are celebratory," says Loehr of the drinks, which can be made with any sparkling wines. "They're a wonderful combination of the brightness, slight acidity and texture of champagne with the sweeter qualities of the cocktail."

Mimosa

Combine equal parts champagne and fresh-squeezed orange juice.

Bellini

Combine 2 parts champagne or Prosecco with 1 part peach puree.

Kir Royale

Combine a splash of crème de cassis (black currant liqueur) with champagne.

Black Velvet

Combine equal parts champagne and stout or porter beer.

Bubbles 'N' Blue

Combine equal parts champagne and Hpnotiq liqueur.

Midori Sparkle

Pour ¾ oz. Midori liqueur into a glass; fill with champagne.

Blushing Saint

Combine 1 oz. St. Germain liqueur and 1 oz. cranberry juice in glass; fill with bubbly.

Perfect Pear

Fill a shaker with ice and add 1 oz. pear vodka and 1 oz. pear-flavored liqueur. Shake well, strain into a glass, then add a splash of bubbly.

April in Paris

Fill shaker with ice, 1 oz. Creme de Violette liqueur and ½ oz. simple syrup. Shake, strain into a glass and fill with bubbly.

Champagne Julep

Pour ½ oz. ginger syrup (found in the gourmet aisle) into a glass and fill with bubbly. Garnish with fresh mint leaves.

French 75

Fill shaker with ice and add 2 oz. gin, 1 tsp. sugar and ½ oz. fresh lemon juice; shake well. Strain into a glass half full of ice and then top with champagne. Garnish with lemon slice.

Champagne Cocktail

Place a sugar cube in the bottom of a flute glass and add a few dashes of Angostura bitters. Fill with champagne and garnish with lemon twist.

Hummingbird

Drop a sugar cube into a flute glass and add 1 oz. Hum Liqueur and 1 oz. ruby red or pink grapefruit juice; fill with bubbly.

Jenny McCarthy Ready for a Crazy New Year's Eve with Ryan Seacrest

For Jenny McCarthy, New Year's Eve has become a parallel universe. It's the one night of the year when everyone else is crazy, and she's not.

"I'm excited," says McCarthy, 40, about co-hosting Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve with Ryan Seacrest on ABC. "I have more fun doing live TV than anything, I think because it's hard to censor. And I like that! So it's a little more off the cuff, and you never know what's going to happen."

That's an understatement. The show will run five hours again this year – it used to be just two and half – and McCarthy knows that's a lot of time for the hordes in Times Square to do unexpected things.

"I've got the drunk guy with no shirt on next to a 10-year-old from Nebraska," she says. "It's a great test of skills and fun for me."

She adds with a laugh: "It's really forcing me to be sober for these New Year's to come. Really the only day I might be sober in the whole year … kidding!"

As for who she'll kiss at midnight, that may be up to the audience. She's taking suggestions on social media on whether he should be a New York fireman, a solider or "average Joe." (Tweet to @JennyMcCarthy with hashtags #military, #FDNY or #AverageJoe or go to Facebook.com/NewYearsRockinEve.)

It will be a milestone year for the show – the first without Clark himself, who died in April at age 82. McCarthy, who has done the show for two years and recently signed up for five more, says she will miss Clark, who "paved the way" for her and Seacrest. But she added that Ryan is a singular talent as well.

"I've worked with so many jerks in the business, and egos … but Ryan is the most professional, nicest, team player, non-ego hard worker I've ever met," she says. "He just makes a ton more money than I do. And he doesn't have a baby!"

We can't wait! The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are going to welcome the next royal heir – or two? – in 2013. How much fun would it be if Will and Kate had twins? We can already see the made-for-TV-movie of their lives: Double Trouble at the Palace.

As for baby names, the odds-makers have Mary, Victoria and John as the top contenders, with 8 to 1 odds. Next, there are 9 to 1 odds for the names Diana and Frances. Philip, Charles and Anne are next in line with 10 to 1 odds. Even though it's got the odds against it with 16 to 1, we think the royal little one, if it's a girl, will be Elizabeth after the Queen. And we say if it's a boy, Charles will win out!

Plus, let's not forget American royalty: Earlier this year, Jay-Z denied rumors that he and wife Beyoncé are expecting another baby. But come on, Blue Ivy needs a sibling!? And we need Jay and Beyoncé to literally birth their own super singing group. Let's hear it for another little one for our favorite power couple!

Feel the Force

Disney bought Lucasfilm. Get over it. Let's just hope the force is strong for a new set of Star Wars films in 2013. How about we get Ben Affleck to direct the new trilogy – the dude has talent! Have you seen Argo? Heck, he can even suit up as Luke Skywalker with his BFF Matt Damon as wise-cracking bad ass Jason Bourne turned Han Solo. Too long in the tooth? What about on-screen rivals Robert Pattinson as Han and Taylor Lautner as Luke? They do know how to make an addictive trilogy!

Kanye West dropped a bombshell during an Atlantic City concert on Sunday night, revealing that he and girlfriend Kim Kardashian are expecting a child.

The news of the reality starlet's pregnancy was quickly followed by an outpouring of congratulatory Twitter messages from family members.

"Oh BABY BABY BABY!!" shouts Kim's mom Kris Jenner.

Adds sister Kourtney: "Been wanting to shout from the rooftops with joy and now I can! Another angel to welcome to our family. Overwhelmed with excitement!

Kardashian, 32, and West, 35, went public with their relationship last April, about six months after Kardashian filed for divorce from Kris Humphries. The divorce action is still pending.

During Sunday's concert at Revel Resort's Ovation Hall, West revealed his big news by singing, "Now you having my baby" to the roar from the crowd of 5,000, the Associated Press reports.

West asked concertgoers to congratulate his "baby mom" and called the pregnancy the "most amazing thing."

Hillary Clinton Hospitalized for a Blood Clot

Hillary Clinton has been hospitalized.

The Secretary of State was admitted to New York Presbyterian Hospital on Sunday after doctors found a blood clot during an exam related to the concussion she suffered during a fall earlier this month, CNN reports.

"Her doctors will continue to assess her condition, including other issues associated with her concussion," Philippe Reines, deputy assistant secretary of state, said Sunday. "They will determine if any further action is required."

She's being treated with anti-coagulants and is expected to be hospitalized for 48 hours so she can be monitored.

Clinton, 65, suffered a concussion when she passed out and fell in her Washington, D.C., home. Reports at the time said dehydration suffered after a trip the former first lady took to Europe was the cause of her fall.

Clinton, who was recently named one of Barbara Walters's 10 most-fascinating people of 2012, plans to step down from her secretary post early next year.

The star, who is expecting her second child with fiancé Eric Johnson, shared a daring self-portrait of her baby bump on Twitter Sunday.

Dressed in a bikini and a beach wrap that is hanging open, Simpson, 32, writes "Bumpin' and Proud!" She snapped the picture with a glittery iPhone.

Simpson has been posting lots of photos while vacationing in Hawaii with Johnson, their 7-month-old daughter, sister Ashlee Simpson – who flaunted her flat tummy in a barely-there bikini on the beach – and other family members.

Dick Clark New Year's Eve Love Story - Same Couple Dancing Since 1972

This New Year's Eve will be just like any other for Kathy and Louie Novoa, except without their dear friend Dick Clark, who passed away in April.

The pair met on American Bandstand and have since taken part in every one of his New Year's Rockin' Eves since they began on the Queen Mary in 1972.

"To be there from the very first one he did and to still be a part of it, I think, wow, I can't believe it," Louie tells PEOPLE. "I still have the original invitation to the very first one."

As for being a part of Rockin' Eve for the first time since Clark's death, Kathy says, "It's very sad and heartbreaking to know he started this tradition and was so important in so many homes. Everybody watches Dick Clark's New Year's Eve. It's very hard [with him gone], but it's also great knowing that it's still going on. That's what he would want."

Now officially a couple for 36 years, Louie says that starting the New Year with a kiss is his favorite tradition on the show, which kicks off at 8 p.m. ET/PT this year on ABC.

"Kathy and I started doing it, and right after that, Dick's wife Kari [Wigton] goes, 'Why don't we follow up with that?' " he says. "It became a tradition. We had a lot of clips of that. That's what we're going to miss. We always looked forward to that."

The happy pair, who declined to provide their age, would only joke about it.

"People ask us, 'How old are you? You don't look that old,' " Louie explained with a chuckle. "I say, 'We've been around for a while. We are [old].' We really are. You can tell on the dance floor. We're out there dancing with the kids. We call them kids because we try to blend in with them. We still have it though."

Although Louie says they miss Clark "every day," he is a big fan of his replacement, Ryan Seacrest.

"He's incredible," he says. "He's awesome. He does a great job and he has the same personality as Dick Clark. He gets along with everybody."

Zach Gilford is a married man.

The Friday Night Lights star, 30, tied the knot with fiancée Kiele Sanchez, 36, on Saturday, the actor's rep confirms to PEOPLE.

The couple got engaged in Dec. 2011, a source confirmed to PEOPLE at the time.

Gilford – who played quarterback Matt Saracen on the former hit series – costarred with Sanchez, who has appears on several series, including Lost and The Glades.

Gilford most recently starred in the canceled series The Mob Doctor.

Ashlee Simpson is sending 2012 off with a bang!

The 28-year-old showed off her svelte figure in a tiny bikini as she splashed along the shores of Oahu, Hawaii on Saturday.

The singer and son Bronx (with Pete Wentz) joined pregnant big sister Jessica, her fiancé Eric Johnson and 7-month-old niece Maxwell Drew for a Hawaiian holiday.

Ashlee – who recently split from Boardwalk Empire actor Vincent Piazza after a year and a half of dating – smiled as she held hands with Bronx, 4.

This holiday season has been all about family for the Simpson clan. Tina Simpson – who filed for divorce from husband of 34 years, Joe Simpson, in October – also joined the girls in Hawaii.

Four years ago, a tomcat showed up at Judy Godfrey-Brown's door in Anglesey, Wales, on a mission.

When the animal lover accepted the stray into her brood of cats and dogs, "he ignored everybody and went straight for my blind dog and started loving him," she tells PEOPLE. "He realized something was different about the dog and [wanted to help]."

Now, the cat, named Pwditat, and Godfrey-Brown's 8-year-old dog Terfel, are inseparable, and Pwditat has become the dog's guide. The feline uses his paws to help lead the pooch – who lost his sight years ago to cataracts – outside on walks. Their sweet relationship was first reported by the Daily Post of North Wales.

"The cat came here because that cat knew there was something different about the dog," Godfrey-Brown says, adding that because of her recent surgery the pair are living at a nearby cattery run by a local woman named Anne Cragg. "They sleep together in the same basket and go for walks. Why can't people be as lovely as that?"

Brandy showed off her engagement sparkler on Instagram Saturday when she shared a photo of herself and fiancé Ryan Press poolside in Hawaii.

Besides getting engaged, the couple has been soaking up the sun in the Aloha State and sharing photos – lots of photos – on social media.

"Hawaii sun all in my face :) Having a great time with my love @ryanpress215," Brandy wrote on Instagram earlier in the week.

The former Dancing with the Stars contestant, 33, and music executive first went public with their romance last New Year's Eve when they were spotted cuddling in Las Vegas.

The singer told PEOPLE in March that her 10-year-old daughter Sy'rai (with producer Robert Smith) "loves Ryan, and he loves me for sure. But I don't have a ring."

But the ring didn't mean a thing for Brandy, "I told Ryan I'd marry him with a bubble-gum ring," she added.

George H. W. Bush's Condition Improves, He Leaves ICU

After spending nearly a week in the intensive care unit at Methodist Hospital in Houston, former President George H. W. Bush has been moved out of the ICU.

"President Bush's condition has improved, so he has been moved today from the intensive care unit to a regular patient room at The Methodist Hospital to continue his recovery," his office said in a statement Saturday. "The Bushes thank everyone for their prayers and good wishes."

The 88-year-old, who was the 41st president of the United States, has been hospitalized since Nov. 23.

His spokesman said previously that doctors at the hospital were "cautiously optimistic" about the politician's treatment and said he was "alert and conversing with medical staff."

"Is he sick? Yes. Does he plan on going anywhere soon? No," Bush Sr.'s close aide, Jean Becker, said in a statement earlier this week. "He has every intention of staying put. He would ask me to tell you to please 'put the harps back in the closet.' "

Even as New Year's approaches, Selena Gomez is still in a Christmas mood.

The starlet, 20, posted a picture of herself with her young cousin and members of the cast of Grinchmas, a holiday show playing at Universal Studios Hollywood.

"Perfect ending to the holidays taking my cousin Sophie to see #grinchmas @unistudios #family," she wrote on Twitter to accompany the photo Friday.

And Universal, Tweeted right back, saying, "Thanks for coming Selena! It was great to have you & Sophie. #Grinchmas."

Before the holiday, Gomez spent some time enjoying the snow. She was spotted in Canyons Resort in Park City, Utah, with her on-again boyfriend Justin Bieber. They were joined by Taylor Swift and Harry Styles. The two couples kept warm in separate rental houses at The Colony in Park City.

Jenna Dewan-Tatum is debuting her growing baby belly.

The actress, who is expecting her first child with hubby Channing Tatum, was snapped walking in a bikini while vacationing in St. Barts on Friday.

In the photo, Dewan-Tatum, 32, sports a playful peach colored bikini top adorned with tassels, and a shirt tied around her wait, which shows off her barely-there bump.

Behind his expectant wife, Tatum, also 32, reveals his hunky physique that was only part of the reason he was named PEOPLE's Sexiest Man Alive.

The couple were also spotted the same day strolling on the beach, though both kept covered up during their walk by the water.

Over Christmas, Tatum posted a sweet photo of him cradling his wife's belly.

As a little boy, Jeb Niewood's son, Kevin, noticed nothing out of the ordinary about his best friend and playmate, Bradley Schneider.

When they met in the third grade at Riverglades Elementary School in Parkland, Fla., Kevin and Bradley, who has Down syndrome, learned they had a lot in common, like a love of sports, and their shared idol, Michael Jordan.

"I didn't see a kid with Down syndrome. I just saw Bradley," says Kevin, now 23, and a reporter and meteorologist at an NBC affiliate in West Virginia. "A nice boy, and a good friend."

Touched after volunteering in their class and watching the boys play, in 2002, Niewood, 58, an attorney, founded Soccer Buddies, a program that pairs special needs kids with non-disabled peers for two-hour sports outings each week.

Since starting in 2002 with 20 players and 30 volunteers, the program – now known as Parkland Buddies – has served over 2,000 local children, growing to become one of the largest recreational programs in the small town of Parkland, with year-round sports offerings and hundreds of members.

"They've grown by leaps and bounds," says Parkland mayor Michael Udine. "It's totally brought our town together."

A Place to Learn and Play

While teaching non-disabled volunteers – who range in age from 10 to 18 – lessons in acceptance and inclusion, Buddies also affords special needs kids a safe place to play.

"It's a safe harbor for parents," says Jane Kaufman, 49, whose 12-year-old Bryan has autism and has been involved in the program for the last five years. "We have a place where people love our son and are rooting for him."

Garrett Meyerson, 17, who has cerebral palsy, says Buddies gave him "confidence," and helped him develop physical strength.

"I've been walking for quite some time, but only with a walker," says the high school senior. "Buddies gave me the confidence to walk longer distances and to keep going."

Now a volunteer, Meyerson currently mentors a youngster who also has cerebral palsy. "To encourage him and mentor him is a really awesome feeling," says Meyerson. "The smile that I had when I was his age, it never leaves his face."

As for the original Buddies, Bradley and Kevin, they're still great pals.

"We support each other, big time," says Kevin of Bradley, a high school grad and bagger at a local grocery store who still plays a sport each season and hopes to transition soon to become a Buddies volunteer. "The other day he texted me and we chatted for a while over text."

Says Bradley: "Helping other people who have Down syndrome makes me feel great."

Emily Maynard's cat Safari was named for a wilderness expedition – and now the feline looks like he could roam wild in one.

In a Twitter photo Maynard shared Thursday, the cat's fur has been fashioned into a lion's mane.

"Safari has never been happier. Really. I swear. #grumpycat," she Tweeted.

It sounds like both of the single mom's felines are sporting the new do.

"I just dropped Holly and Safari off to get their lion haircuts," she replied on Thursday to her Twitter friend, @BoMartini. "Get ready for your phone to be filled with even more cat pics."

The reality star couple tell PEOPLE exclusively they're expecting a second child together next year.

Parks showed off her growing baby bump while on the beach in the Bahamas, where she's vacationing with her family and friends.

The Atlanta entertainment lawyer married Nida, a certified personal trainer, in 2009 and the couple welcomed son Ayden a year later.

The pair recently released their first fitness DVD, Phine Body on Amazon.com.

A 33-ton tank housing sharks, turtles and fish shattered in a Shanghai shopping mall, sending a torrent of water that injured more than a dozen shoppers and employees in a dramatic moment caught on video.

The tank burst Dec. 19 at the Orient Shopping Center, hurtling huge shards of glass through the gushing water that wiped out a cosmetics counter. Those injured suffered cuts and bruises and several people had to be rescued, according to Chinese news reports.

Three lemon sharks, several turtles and numerous small fish also were killed.

Installed just two years ago, the tank may have broken due to a combination of low temperatures and weak materials, according to the BBC.

Hold off on the congratulations — at least for now.

News and social media sites lit up on Thursday after Shakira ‘s boyfriend, FC Barcelona soccer star Gerard Piqué, posted a message on Twitter, announcing the arrival of their baby boy.

“”Our son has been born!” he wrote in Spanish. “We’re very happy! Thank you all for your messages!”

But the baby buzz was short-lived after the father-to-be’s fan following started calling out the coincidental timing of it all — Dec. 28 is Dia de Los Santos Inocentes in Spain and other parts of Latin America, a holiday much like April Fools’ Day.

And all bets on baby’s birth were officially off when Piqué confessed to his prank with a follow-up message Friday morning.

“He has a name! His name is Innocence!” he Tweeted. “Happy Day of the Innocents to everyone!”
