Congratulations are in order for the sports power couple, who got engaged on Dec. 31. Golf pro Rory Mcilroy , 24, popped the question in Sydney, Australia, where he was ringing in the new year with his girlfriend, tennis star Caroline Wozniacki , 23. They announced it on Instagram and Twitter on Tuesday evening, (which is Wednesday morning in Australia).

The couple was in Sydney for the holiday due to Caroline’s schedule, as the tennis star is beginning to prepare for the Australian Open in Melbourne. Both Rory and Caroline took to social media to announce the good news, as they posted a photo collage that included a happy picture of the couple, fireworks over Sydney Harbor, and Caroline’s brand new bling!
She posted the picture along with the caption, “Happy New Year everyone! Rory and I started 2014 with a bang! … I said YES!!!!” The bride to be is sporting a simply breathtaking, cushion-cut diamond engagement ring which features a micro-pave halo.
Caroline and Rory began dating in 2011, shortly after the golf pro achieved his first major, record-setting win at the US Open at Congressional. We couldn’t be happier for the sports power couple — and we’re sure they have many more wins ahead of them for 2014!
