Martina McBride told PEOPLE on Friday that the expectant songstress will be a natural in her new role.
"She's really fun. Kelly's outgoing and very direct and I feel like she'll be a fun mom," said McBride, 47, while attending the MusiCares Person of the Year dinner honoring Carole King in L.A.
In December, Clarkson, 31, spent time in the studio – a "nice distraction" from her pregnancy, she Tweeted at the time – recording a track for McBride's upcoming album, Everlasting, which is due out in April.
"She has a really good head on her shoulders and she's a strong person," the mom-of-three adds. "I think that will be good for her and her child as well."
Clarkson recently revealed she's expecting a baby girl with husband Brandon Blackstock.
