Demi Lovato: 'Don't Say Women Suck'

Just like she sings in her latest pop hit, Demi Lovato "Really Don't Care" what happens whens she speaks her mind, as long as she's "inspiring everybody to be honest."

"Don't f--- with me if you're going to say women suck," Lovato told ET Canada Tuesday.

The 22-year-old pop star's direct response was in regard to what she sees as the inherent sexism in analyzing Taylor Swift's songs to see if they are about past boyfriends.

But, like her "good friend" Swift – whom she calls "one of the few people I've maintained a friendship with in this industry" – Lovato prefers to remain positive as she promotes her new album, touring in Canada

"[My message is about] inspiring women and inspiring everybody to be honest," says Lovato, who has been open about her struggles with addiction, cutting and body image.

"One lesson to learn is that you have to be able to tell the difference between yes people and no people," the singer says. "If people are handing you drugs, do they really care about you? That's what I had to learn the hard way."

Continues Lovato: "You have to realize your worth is so much more than putting s--- up your nose."

Lovato certainly seems to be in a good place: She recently got "engaged" to a 5-year-old fan, who adorably proposed to her during a concert, and is actually dating Wilmer Valderrama.

The couple is even talking about taking the next step in their relationship: Coordinating costumes for Halloween.

"I think this year, yes," Demi said of the possibility. "It's never happened really in the past, although ... our costumes end up matching."
