Philip Seymour Hoffman completed 10 days in rehab a week ago Friday, the actor admits, according to a report.
Crediting "a great group of friends and family" for assistance in getting the necessary help he required, Hoffman, 45, told TMZ.com that he slowly began with prescription pills and then recently graduated to snorting heroin.
The 2006 Oscar winner for Capote also told the site he had been clean for 23 years, until last year.
The father of three children (Cooper, 10; Tallulah 6, and Willa, 4) with costume designer Mimi O'Donnell, Hoffman will next be seen in The Hunger Games: Catching Fire , opening in November.
