Paul Walker Porsche Topped More Than 100 MPH Before Crash, Coroner Says

The special edition 2005 Porsche Carrera GT that Fast & Furious star Paul Walker was riding in was traveling at over 100 mph when it swerved out of control, crashed and burst into flames, according to a new report.

The report, issued Friday by the Los Angeles County Coroner just over a month after the Nov. 30 wreck claimed Walker, 40, and the driver, Roger Rodas, 38, confirms earlier, unofficial reports that speed was the main cause of the wreck on public streets in Santa Clarita, Calif.

It also provides a detailed description of the crash. The report says the bodies were so badly burned that Rodas had to be identified through dental records, while Walker "cannot be positively identified visually."

Although friends of the two had said they suspected mechanical failure contributed to the crash because Rodas was a skilled racecar driver, the final report cites no such defect.

"For unknown reasons, the driver lost control of his vehicle, and the vehicle partially spun around," says the report, which goes on to describe how the car struck a tree and then a light post, spun 180 degrees, hit another tree and then burst into flames.

The site of the crash became a memorial for thousands of fans of the Fast & Furious star, who gathered at the site to light candles, leave flowers and write notes on a burned tree.

The crash occurred after a fundraiser for Walker's charity, Reach Out WorldWide.
