The Live with Kelly and Michael and Good Morning America co-host burned the midnight oil on Tuesday, jamming with friends at New York City's popular LAVO nightclub.
The party, celebrating Tribeca Films's premiere of NAS: Time Is Illmatic, a documentary on the life and career of rapper Nas, got started around 9:30 p.m. "Strahan arrived around 10 p.m. with a male friend and two ladies in tow," a partygoer tells PEOPLE.
The group was greeted with Hennessy V.S. cocktails and shown to a table where they snacked on hors d'oeuvres including tuna tartar, chicken parmigiana skewers and meatball sliders.
Despite a recent split from fiancée Nicole Murphy, Strahan, 42, appeared happy, single and ready to mingle. After greeting Nas and Lala Anthony, also in attendance, Strahan got the party started by sipping on cocktails, dancing with his lady friends and striking up a cigar.
"He was kind enough to take pics with a few fans," says the onlooker of the former pro footballer. "He was in a great mood all night, dancing and rapping to the songs DJ D-Nice was playing."
