The Los Angeles Police Department responded late Tuesday evening to reports of a suicide in the Tarzana residence of 7th Heaven actor Stephen Collins; however, after police arrived to the scene, they found no incident had occurred.

"He's not dead; he's alive," an LAPD spokesperson tells PEOPLE. "He was not at home at the time of the alleged incident, and there's no evidence of any gun shot."

The false suicide reports come on the heels of news surfacing earlier Tuesday that Collins, 67, allegedly confessed to child molestation.

The actor last posted his whereabouts on Saturday, when he Tweeted about attempting to buy tickets for "Beautiful," the Carole King musical now playing in New York.

"At the last sec, I trotted 11blocks in the rain to get a single tic to Beautiful. Arrived at 2. They'd just sold the last seat! #planahead," he Tweeted.

The NYPD is currently investigating the molestation claims.
