But wait just a New York minute.
After Jennifer Hudson hinted at a return for the franchise on Dish Nation, Carrie and Charlotte themselves (Sarah Jessica Parker and Kristin Davis) seemed to fuel the fire on Twitter.
"@SJP Miss YOU XOXOXO!! <3," Davis Tweeted Friday, along with a photo of herself and her costar at the Sex and the City 2 premiere.
To which Parker replied, "@KristinDavis Me too you! Heard the news? X"
The news, fans are hoping, is a green light for a third installment of Sex and the City, the movie. #SexandtheCity3 is certainly making the rounds on Twitter.
"I think it might be [happening]," Hudson said of a new movie Thursday. "Somebody just came to me talking about that. So if it’s in the talks, it might happen. So look for it."
But it seems the hints have ended – at least for now.
"NEWS?!?! WHAT NEWS!!" one Twitter user asked Parker. Replied the actress: "That news zooming around. X sj."
