It’s been a busy year for the Duchess of Cambridge. She became a mom, slipped right back into her skinny jeans and continued her royal red carpet duties alongside Prince William (keeping up with her perfect wardrobe and bouncy blowouts). And it’s no secret that PeopleStyleWatch.com editors love to analyze her every style move. Our latest observation: Kate was all about the coat dress in 2013. (See the photographic evidence above.)

From left, Kate recycled a tartan Alexander McQueen design — first worn for a visit to her her alma mater last year — for the Christmas Day service at Sandringham in King’s Lynn, England. She kept it festive with a green fascinator and a pair of her favorite suede boots. Last month, she recycled her Orla Kiely dress for a charity event in London. Next (and probably her most standout fashion moment of 2013), the new mom wore an ivory Alexander McQueen coat dress featuring ruffles down the front for Prince George’s christening in October.

And even during her pregnancy Kate dressed her bump in fashion-forward styles like a Dalmatian-print coat from London boutique Hobbs (the $260 topper is sold out!) and a Sylvia Fletcher bespoke hat. Lastly, she selected a plaid Moloh design paired with her trademark black suede boots for an outing in Scotland in April.

While she always looks flawless, we’d love to see Kate in a moto jacket and some colored skinnies in 2014. (That’s our fantasy fashion forecast). How about you: Which look is your favorite? Are you a fan of Kate’s classic style or do you think she should change things up a little bit in the new year?
