On Sunday's The Real Housewives of Atlanta , Kandi Burruss invited her mother over for dinner in hopes of mending fences with her fiancé, Todd Tucker, but plates were nearly broken instead.
"She was ready for war," Burruss, 37, said of Momma Joyce as the family matriarch came in with all guns blazing, accusing Tucker of being "an opportunist."
"She stepped herself down for you," Momma Joyce tersely told Tucker. "A man is supposed to be a provider."
"I provide love, happiness, stability," he responded.
"Would you be willing to sign a prenup?" asked Burruss' mother.
"I'm not willing to sign anything," Tucker, a line producer, said. "I love her to death."
"I got people that get back to me," Momma Joyce stated, pointing at her eyes, indicating she would be watching Tucker's every move, while also seeming to indicate she still believed that Tucker might be cheating on her daughter.
"Ain't no mountain high enough, ain't no valley low enough, ain't no river wide enough," she sang to Tucker after her daughter left, before changing the ending to the famed chorus. "To keep me off your a--, baby!"
When the Grammy winner returned with dessert, Tucker said, "I want to marry Kandi, and it's tough on her not getting your support."
"You don't got nothin' to say this time?" Burruss asked her mother.
"Pie's good," she responded.
At least there was one sweet romance to offset the drama, as Cynthia Bailey invited over 13-year-old daughter Noelle's new boyfriend, Arthur, and his mother to set boundaries for their "dating."
"It's gonna take me some cocktails to get through this," Bailey, 46, joked.
But Arthur earned major points when Bailey's husband, Peter Thomas, asked him at the table, "Are you staring me down?" and the teenager replied, "I just feel it's respect to look at you while you're talking."
Arthur complimented Noelle as the young couple sat on the front porch, saying, "You look nice today," while all the parents agreed that the pair hang out only when their parents are around.
Perhaps they should invite Momma Joyce over for dinner and a talk.
