We need to assign an editor to be on Amber Heard engagement ring watch 24/7, because Johnny Depp’s fiancé seems to be getting constant bling updates. Her ring has always been gorgeous, but it looks like Heard might have made some tweaks. Let’s go to the photos.

When Heard first stepped out sporting her ring at Depp’s charity rock show in January, it appeared to be a giant round diamond in a halo setting, set atop a split-shank band. Then she appeared on the red carpet for 3 Days to Kill in February. wearing a completely different ring, which featured a similarly-shaped stone bezel-set into a vintage-feeling scrollwork setting.
We saw that same ring again in March — but this time, it was on Depp’s hand instead, and he acknowledged his “chick’s ring” as a way of confirming his engagement to Heard. So why the ring switch-up? “I have a female engagement ring,” Depp told David Letterman recently. “It was too big for my girl.”
Then at Cannes, Heard stepped out wearing what appeared to be an upgraded version of ring no. 1. Now the apparent split-shank band has been graced with two pear-shaped stones on either side of the main diamond. But we can’t tell if it’s a separate setting altogether, extra help from the surrounding bands or a few tweaks to the first ring. Either way, we wouldn’t mind being on Depp’s jewelry gift list in the future.
