This is unbelievable. A second set of mono mono twins were born on May 15 in the exact same Ohio hospital as another set who were born just one week earlier. Wow!
Doctors claim that the chance of having a pair of mono mono twins is slim at a rate of 1 in every 10,000 pregnancies. In fact, Ohio Akron General Medical Center say that birthing not one but two sets of mono mono twins in the same hospital is “statistically impossible.” Not anymore!
Mono Mono Twin: Two Sets Born In Same Ohio Hospital
JaNiya and Amaya McCail were born healthy and happy through a scheduled cesarean section on Thursday, May 15 in Ohio Akron General Medical Center. It only took 19 minutes, but that wasn’t the most amazing part of their arrival.
So, what made their birth more miraculous than the other babies born that day?
For those of you that don’t know what monoamniotic twins are, they are identical twin babies who share the same amniotic sac inside the uterus.
It is an extremely rare pregnancy defect, and one that doctors do not usually see twice in such a short time frame.
“There’s only a 1 in 10,000 chance that a woman will become pregnant with monoamniotic twins,” the hospital wrote in an official press release.
After the twin girls were born, they were transfered to Akron Children’s Hospital — just like the first set of mono mono twin girls who were born one week earlier.
“[...] it’s almost a statistical impossibility to have 2 sets of monoamniotic twins cared for by Akron Children’s Hospital,” the press release explained.
Thankfully, JaNiya and Amaya, along with their excited mom, Amanda Arnold, are all “doing great.”
