Michael Keaton and Emma Stone in Birdman
Twentieth Century FOX
In Birdman or (the Unexpected Virtue of Ignorance), Michael Keaton stars as has-been actor Riggan Thompson, best-known for his role as a superhero years before.
In a last-ditch attempt to revive his career, Riggan heads to the Great White Way to direct and star in a play.
The dark comedy follows Keaton's character as his show heads to opening night, chronicling the behind-the-scenes drama of his egotistical and insecure costars (played by Edward Norton and Naomi Watts) and voice-of-reason manager (Zach Galifianakis). There's family drama, as well: Emma Stone plays his right-out-of-rehab daughter.
Birdman, directed by Alejandro G. Iñárritu (Babel, 21 Grams) is now out in limited release in select cities.
