One week after the joyful arrival of her son Tennessee James, Reese Witherspoon is "back at home" with her little man, a source tells PEOPLE. "They are both doing well."

Witherspoon, 36, and husband Jim Toth, 42, who is a first-time father, are settling into their roles just fine.

"Everyone is bonding with the baby," explains the source. "And Jim has had a lighter workload and has been spending a lot of time at home with the baby as well."

Adds a family friend, there were minimal nerves for Toth. "He was just over the moon and really excited to become a dad."

Already up on her feet, Witherspoon was out and about Wednesday in Santa Monica, Calif., stopping into local eatery Huckleberry with her newborn.

Soaking up every minute with her new family is number one on Witherspoon's priority list. "She definitely feels settled in her family life with Jim and her kids [Deacon, who turns 9 this month, and Ava, 13]," says the pal. "They can't wait to start life with their new baby."
