Just in time for Prince William and Kate's third wedding anniversary, one royal commentator claimed to expose the truth behind Pippa Middleton's royal-wedding-day derrière.

Middleton, 30, stole the spotlight with her formfitting bridesmaid dress while carrying big sister Kate's train during the April 29, 2011, ceremony in Westminster Abbey. The silky Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen gown certainly highlighted her assets – but were they real?

"Of course she had a false bottom," etiquette expert Stephane Bern, 50, said on his French TV show Monday, according to the Daily Mail . "It was an optical illusion. She knew there were a billion people watching. It was the moment to show it."

Widely recognized as one of Europe's top royal experts, Bern regularly provides commentary for televised royal events for French audiences, including the 2011 royal wedding. He didn't elaborate as to how Pippa could accomplish such a feat, the paper reports, but Middleton has taken the buzz surrounding her bottom in stride.

Speaking at a London event in February, the socialite-turned-author made herself the butt of the joke.

"As I have found out, recognition has its upside, its downside and – you may say – its backside," she quipped, adding that the infamous couture "fitted a little too well."
