Has her role on The Crazy Ones convinced Sarah Michelle Gellar to do something a little less ordinary? The actress has switched up her perpetually light-blonde locks for a dip-dyed style, which she debuted out in Brentwood, Calif. Wednesday.
Gellar returned to her natural brunette color for a few years in the mid-2000s, but she’s been back to Buffy blonde for years now. Her original hue is typically more of a dark mahogany brown, which is why we believe this new look is intentional (rather than just overdue for a trip to the salon) — from the reddish roots to the golden streaks throughout, she appears to be trying out a brand new do.

Most often with the ombré look, darker hair gradually blends into a bright blonde at the tips (we tried it out in a video here), leaving the top of the hair a more natural color. And traditionally, stylists fade a cocoa or sandy brown color into platinum tips. But Gellar looks to have had a series of auburn or copper shades applied at the top, while her ends are a little more golden than her most recent hair hue.
