Mom and daughter may be adjusting to their new routine – Holmes has primary custody of Suri, with visitation for Cruise – but the pair seem like longtime locals since moving to the Big Apple in June. Whether it's hitting a Brooklyn flea market, finding the perfect spot in the neighborhood for a cupcake or setting up play dates with kids from Suri's new school, they seem right at home in the city.
"In school, Katie is so nice and talks to the parents like everyone else," says a source at Avenues, the private school where Suri started first grade three weeks ago. "She's making sure Suri is doing well and Suri has had a few playdates with new friends from school."
But there's also been plenty of mommy and me time for the pair, who have even been hitting the city's outer boroughs.
On Sept. 22, they walked hand-in-hand through Brooklyn's McCarren Park. "Katie seemed to be smiling and having a good time," says an observer.
That same day, Holmes, 33, and Suri hit Brooklyn Flea in the Fort Greene neighborhood.
Then, of course, there are the all important trips to the American Girl Place in Manhattan, where Holmes was last spotted Sept. 13.
Katie and Suri have gotten VIP treatment, says a source at the store: "They do have reasons to come back. There are always new clothes, and a hair salon. If there is a frizz problem, they can fix it."
