Last year, a video of Caine Monroy, a 10-year-old who created his own arcade out of cardboard boxes and trash in his dad's East Los Angeles used auto parts shop, went viral.
Now Monroy's creativity has landed him an even bigger gig than viral video star – he's currently represented by William Morris Endeavor to appear at various speaking engagements, the talent agency has confirmed.
The agency also represents some major stars, including Whoopi Goldberg, Ashley Judd, Julie Andrews and Tyra Banks.
On WME's website, Monroy is touted as "an example of what is possible in today's digital age. In this moderated Q&A format, Caine shares the story behind his idea, vision and dream that has become a wonderful example of human connection and what amazing things can happen when people join together to help someone fulfill a dream."
Monroy was first discovered by filmmaker Nirvan Mullick when he visited the shop looking for a door handle for his car. After organizing a surprise flashmob via social media, Monroy got the thrill of his life when he discovered an endless line of customers waiting to play in his arcade.
While Mullick is also represented by WME, the pals occasionally reunite to encourage and inspire those around the world. Last month, they traveled to France to speak at the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity – where Monroy was the youngest speaker ever.
For example, Monroy drafted five lessons for entrepreneurs mid-flight:
1. Be nice to customers.
2. Do a business that is fun.
3. Do not give up.
4. Start with what you have.
5. Use recycled stuff.
The success of the 11-minute video has also given way to a scholarship fund for Monroy – which has raised almost $230,000 – and the Imagination Foundation, an organization created to help foster creativity and entrepreneurship in children.
TMZ first broke the news of Monroy's deal with William Morris Endeavor.
