In our weekly round-up of what we’re seeing sizzle (and fizzle) on the red carpet, we noticed that stars were really into bright lips and long dresses. And with one notable exception, celebs were really enjoying playing up their natural complexions.
Up: Bright lips. Stars are all about reaching for the brights in their lipstick collection these days. Charlize Theron‘s hot pink pout was just one of many enviable star lip shades we saw, including Ashley Madekwe’s fuchsia and Rosie Huntington-Whiteley’s rich raspberry.
Up: Ankle-length dresses. Emmy Rossum (in Tory Burch) joined stars including Julianne Hough (in A.L.C.) and Jessica Biel (wearing Tom Ford) in a club of celebs who are picking dresses that are not quite midi and not quite maxi, but rather have a tea-length, ankle-grazing hem. This look is best attempted with heels to avoid looking too stumpy — but the finished effect is elegant and ladylike.

Down: Overdoing it on the bronzer. Kelly Osbourne has a stunning, peaches-and-cream complexion, so we couldn’t guess why she went quite so golden for the E! upfronts. This week, we saw many more stars embracing their naturally pale skin tone (from Emma Roberts to January Jones) and we’re loving the natural rosy glow.
