Bynes did not appear at the closed-door hearing, where her attorney did not contest the findings of a psychiatric report on which the ruling was apparently based.
Her April 2012 DUI arrest kicked off a string of legal turmoil. She was charged with two counts of hit-and-run and driving with a suspended license shortly after the arrest.
In between bizarre Tweets and questionable makeover choices, the actress once again raised eyebrows when she showed up in a New York courtroom at the beginning of July wearing an aqua-colored wig, as she faced a judge in connection with her alleged bong-throwing incident from May.
After starting a small fire on a household driveway in Thousand Oaks, Calif., the troubled star was placed under 72-hour mental hold.
In August, it was revealed that Bynes was placed under a 30-day psychiatric hold – 17 days after she had been hospitalized.
The actress's mother Lynn Bynes has since been granted indefinite legal control over her well-being and finances while the star recovers at an undisclosed facility.
