Taking a cue from Ellen DeGeneres, Blake Shelton and Luke Bryan tried to snap a record-breaking selfie at Sunday's Academy of Country Music Awards.

Unfortunately for the hosts, none of their buddies were quite famous enough.

Too chicken to approach legend George Strait, country's BFFs turned to other stars sitting front and center at the MCM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. Jason Aldean was deemed "not big enough."

Shelton and Bryan considered including Tim McGraw but quickly dubbed the 15-time ACM winner "boooooring!"

And Shelton's wife Miranda Lambert wasn't even in her seat to join in on the fun.

Their realization? No one in the MGM Grand could top their star power. So they posed for a photo alone, fiddling with the phone before realizing Sheryl Crow was stealing the spotlight from the background.

Unfortunately for fans, the picture remains missing in action: Even the ACM Twitter account is searching for photographic evidence.

Later, the dynamic duo made one more Oscars jab: Shelton pulled a John Travolta and Adele Dazeem-ified Bryan's name. Then they turned their attention to the another awards show moment, spoofing the Grammys as they breathlessly stumbled on stage rocking Daft Punk's signature helmets and looking for Pharrell Williams.

"How the hell are you supposed to get lucky in that thing?" Bryan quipped. "I couldn't even breathe."
