Katy Perry's new man may not sing, dance or rap, but producer, remixer DJ Diplo (a.k.a. Wes Pentz) is reportedly helping the songstress get over her two-month-old breakup from John Mayer.

The two were first spotted hanging out earlier this month at Coachella and last week sources spotted the couple acting "lovey dovey" at an Amazing Spider-Man 2 after party in New York City.

So what attracted the "Roar" singer to the 35-year-old Diplo, who has worked with such artists as Beyoncé, No Doubt, Justin Bieber and Usher?

Here are five things he's got going on:

1. He's into dinosaurs

Diplo's nom-de-dancehall comes from his childhood love of dinosaurs and is short for Diplodocus, a plant-eating dino that grew to 90-feet in length and lived 155 million years ago.

2. He once taught school

Before hitting it big as a globe-trotting DJ, Diplo taught classes in music and computers in Philadelphia.

3. He's a Southern boy

He was born in Tupelo, Miss., which also happens to be the birthplace of Elvis Presley, and was raised in various small towns throughout the Southern U.S.

4. He brings home the bacon

Diplo is one of the world's highest-paid deejays and earned a whopping $13 million in 2012, according to Forbes , the same amount as Jersey Shore star Pauly D.

5. He likes musicians

Perry isn't the only singer with whom he's been linked. From 2003 to 2008 he dated British Sri-Lankan performer M.I.A., and he has a son, Lockett, from another relationship, who was born in 2010.
