A fisherman reported something suspicious in the waters of Lake Charles in Porter, Ind., on Sunday morning, and divers recovered the body of a woman dressed in dark clothing, according to the Indiana State Police.
"Our family was informed that a body was found that may be our daughter Teleka Patrick," says a statement from her relatives. "We are waiting for official confirmation from the Kalamazoo Sheriff's Department and have no comment at this time. Thank you for your continued prayers – we ask that you respect our privacy at this difficult time.”
An autopsy was set to positively identify the body.
Patrick, a 30-year-old doctor in residency at Western Michigan University, went missing on the evening of Dec. 5, after she attempted to rent a hotel room at the Radisson hotel in Kalamazoo. Police later found her car abandoned nearly 100 miles away in Indiana, with her wallet and credit cards still inside.
Investigators have found no evidence of foul play, but are looking into YouTube videos of Patrick talking and singing to someone she calls "baby" and "love."
The case later took a strange twist when questions arose about her mental state, including the revelation that Grammy-nominated gospel singer Marvin Sapp had a restraining order against her for alleged stalking.
