Luke Bryan is the leading man of this year's Academy of Country Music Awards – He's nominated for entertainer of the year, male vocalist of the year, album of the year and he's also co-hosting the show – but thanks to Justin Moore and his teammates, Luke can't add bow and arrow champion to his list of credits this time around.

The showdown in the desert took place on Saturday at the ACM & Cabela's Great Outdoors Archery Event just a few blocks off the strip. By a score score of 280 to 226, team Justin – which included Brantley Gilbert, Thomas Rhett and Chuck Wicks – beat team Luke, which hosted Lee Brice and Florida Georgia Line's Brian Kelley and Tyler Hubbard.

Even with the team loss, Bryan's personal score of 20 trumped Moore's five.

"Next year I'm going to recruit my team," Bryan said jokingly to PEOPLE after the loss. "And I'm going to put my team on hotel lockdown like they do college kids [with an] 11 p.m. curfew for everyone."

Moore was confident all along he had his win in the bag, explaining, "I wrote my victory speech weeks ago!"
