After months of waiting and searching, the missing airplane carrying Vittorio Missoni, the commercial and marketing director of his family’s Missoni fashion house, has been found.
The missing plane disappeared on January 4, 2013 was carrying Missoni (along with wife Maurizia Castiglioni, another vacationing couple and two pilots) when it vanished off the coast of Venezuela.
Search missions had been sent out since January. This latest search was launched five days ago, and on Thursday, Venezulan authorities announced that the oceanographic ship “Deep Sea” discovered the wreck just north of its origin. Sadly, Vittorio’s father and founder of the brand, Ottavio, passed away on May 9 before the wreckage was discovered.
“The families thank the Venezuelan government and Italian government for the effort in having made this search possible,” the Missoni company said in a statement. “They are confident that the investigation will follow through to the ascertainment of the cases and the responsibility for the accident.”
