People deal with disaster in different ways. Some grow silent, some cry, but Mark Changaris played the piano.
The Boulder resident sat down at his baby grand and played the Tears for Fears tune "Mad World" after a mudslide sent floodwaters coursing through his Colorado home.
Thousands of people have been affected by the devastating floods, and Changaris and his roommate Stephen Smith had just returned home after helping rescue his sister, her partner and their 8-month-old baby.
They had finished taking showers when the raging waters started rushing through their own home.
After the flooding subsided, Changaris went to his piano and began to play a song that summed up his feelings.
"He loves his home, he's lived there for almost four years," says his roommate Maren Keeley, who shot the video. "He loves the piano."
"We needed something beautiful amidst the destruction and mud, rocks and debris," Keeley adds. "Watching him play was the first time I actually felt sad and heartbroken by the events."
