Earlier this month, Carrie Underwood announced that she and her husband, hockey player Mike Fisher, are expecting their first child — and apparently the big news is still soaking in for the singer.

“It’s still kind of weird, to be honest,” Underwood, 31, said Friday on the Today show.

“Sometimes I’ll be with my husband, and it’s like, ‘I’m gonna be a mom. You’re gonna be a dad. Is this real life?’ But we’re really excited.”

As far as what kind of mom she’ll be, Underwood hopes the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree. “I have a wonderful mother,” she said. “If I can be even a little bit like that, I think we’ll be good.”

Underwood also revealed big music news. She’s releasing a new single, “Something in the Water,” off her first Greatest Hits album, due out Dec. 9.

Said Underwood of the new tune: “It’s really a joyous, uplifting song about changing your life for the better.”
