See Sosie Bacon's Miss Golden Globes Beauty Prep - and Learn What She's Nervous For Sunday

She’s gotten some good advice from dad Kevin. We’ve played “five degrees of Sosie Bacon” with her Miss Golden Globes predecessors. And now that we’re just days away from Sosie Bacon’s debut as Miss Golden Globes, we went to the Beverly Hilton to see how her beauty run-through is going — and check on her nerves.

The daughter of actors Kevin Bacon and Kyra Sedgwick joins a grand tradition of celebrity offspring donning beautiful gowns and their best smile to escort winners off the stage. But unlike past winners, Bacon is cheerfully owning up to the fact that getting ready for her big night is going to take a little extra work. “I’ve been walking as much as I can in heels,” she says. “It’s a difficult thing for me.”

She also was happy to have professionals there to run through three possible looks for Sunday, because as she admitted, doing her own makeup doesn’t come naturally — and that may be genetic. “I don’t think [my mom] taught me any makeup tips,” she said. “We’re not good at doing our own makeup. We never have been, either of us.” Fortunately, makeup artist Kendra Richards was on hand to try three looks out on the 21-year-old that corresponded with three different hairstyles, all prepped with L’Oréal hair and beauty products.

“I didn’t expect to love the blue eyeliner — I barely wear any makeup, ever, so it was cool to try something new,” she said of the first look (below left) which went with a voluminous, wavy blowout. Look two was a sleek ponytail and darker lip (below right), which Bacon felt was a little conservative, but got props from her because “I think it makes me look really adult, and everyone’s always telling me I look so young, so this helps.”

Look three (below right) was a half-up, curled look with a bright lip, which Bacon says is most in her comfort zone. “I think the first look was sort of fun and out of my element, and this is more what I would actually wear,” she says, adding that the hair is “something that I was really interested in doing for the actual carpet.”

Bacon, wearing an H&M top, Rag & Bone pants, House of Harlow jewels and rings by her pal’s line Woodrow Jewelry, also got to spend time checking out racks of dresses pulled just for her, which she said she’s been preparing for by cutting out carbs and watching her diet in a sensible way. “I’ve never been someone who diets. I always eat whatever I want, and I realized I want to feel good,” she tells PEOPLE. “It’s not for anyone else, it’s just for myself. I’ve been doing less carbs and such. I’ve given myself a lot of time so it’s not some extreme diet. I just don’t think I could do that.” That being said, she’s counting down the moments until she can indulge at In-N-Out with a protein-style burger.

Bacon said she’s keeping nerves at bay by prepping as much as possible. “I’m trying to keep it as stress-free as possible. I know it’s such a long day,” she says, adding that her parents’ support is key. “I think they’re excited for me. They’re looking forward to it. They’ll be there and they’ll be supporting me.” All that’s left is for her to surprise them on the red carpet — and stay upright in those heels.
