She may have been snubbed for an Oscar nom for her role in The Wolf of Wall Street, but Margot Robbie has definitely captivated the fashion world (and PeopleStyleWatch.com editors) with her spot-on style moments, which is why we’re so excited to reveal some exclusive photos of the star in a beautiful new shoot for Violet Grey‘s “The Violet Files”. We’re also so excited that she’s opening up about the crazy nails and spray tan (seriously, we left the theater with an urge to go to Beach Bum) that defined her character.

Robbie said the No. 1 trick to getting in Naomi’s (AKA the Duchess of Bay Ridge) head was to get her acrylic nails on. “The first thing I said was that my character needs acrylic nails all the time, because that changes everything. I couldn’t do anything the way I wanted to: I couldn’t wipe tears the way I would, I couldn’t brush my hair the way I would … it seriously created the character.” And of course, her transformation wouldn’t have been complete without that allover golden glow. “On Sunday night, I’d get my nails and my spray tan, after I finished watching football.”

In the new shoot, the actress looks the complete opposite of her Wolf character wearing a menswear-inspired gray suit and slicked-back hair. “For this photoshoot I was trying to channel power and the idea that I ran an empire,” Robbie says.
