In our weekly roundup of the looks that are gaining fashion ground (and the ones losing their style street cred), we saw chic skirts, bold patterns and one print that seems to have missed its season.

Up: Pencil Skirts. This is a silhouette that never really goes out of style — we just have to wait four weeks or so for celebrities to rediscover its allure. Jessica Alba demonstrates its versatility by pairing it with a graphic tiger sweater, but Nikki Reed, Olivia Munn and Miranda Kerr each put their own spin on the classic (and eternally chic) look.

Up: Color Blocking. Leave it to Coco Rocha to come up with one of the coolest and most unique versions of this trend that we’ve seen in a while. Her caped gown would be tough to top, but we saw similarly bold blocking looks on Olivia Munn, Natalie Dormer and Kate Mara.

Down: Florals. We’re all for an unexpected look, but Olivia Munn’s floral Michael Kors halter just feels a tad too unseasonal when half of the country is buried under snow. To make matters more confusing, she was wearing this luau-ready look in Stockholm. We like the dress, but we think most stars will be saving this type of look for that first warm week of spring.
