We see nothing but love songs in the future for Melissa Etheridge, who married (and serenaded!) Linda Wallem on Saturday.

So what do you need to know about Etheridge's muse?

1. They were friends first

Before Wallem and Etheridge began their relationship in 2010, they considered each other best friends for more than 10 years. In fact, Wallem served as the singer's "best man" at her 2003 wedding to ex-wife Tammy.

2. She's going to have to get used to joint birthday parties

Both Etheridge and Wallem were born on May 29, 1961, making them both 53. (And what better way to mark the milestone together this year than a wedding?)

3. Wallem also works in showbiz

Wallem is credited as one of the creators of the Edie Falco-starring Nurse Jackie. After beginning her career in cabaret, she made appearances on The Carol Burnett Show (1991), Sleepless in Seattle (1993) and Seinfeld (1994).

4. And she's watched that industry evolve

"I was new in Hollywood in the early '90s, and there was still some homophobia," Wallem told AfterEllen.com in 2009 at the threshold of Nurse Jackie. "There were some guys I had worked with that I didn’t care to share that with because, you know ... I don't know. Maybe being a lesbian in TV, people look at you like you fit into the boys club a little. Actually, I think it's an advantage because it is such a male-dominated industry. I think that's why straight men love lesbians – because we can be great friends."

5. She's a family woman

Wallem's so close to her brother, Stephen, the two didn't hesitate to work together on Nurse Jackie (although she still made her sibling, who's also gay, audition). "Yes, we’re very close," he told The Advocate . "And we were both been blessed with the most supportive family to come out to."
