Taylor Swift loves reading, and with others such as Kelly Ripa and Rachel McAdams she's on latest poster in support of READ, a project of the American Library Association.

IN an exclusive first look for PEOPLE, Swift, in a dress to match her signature red lips, digs into author Lois Lowry's young adult classic The Giver, recipient of the 1994 Newbery Medal.

The book is fitting and timely as the country superstar makes her next big-screen appearance in the film adaptation, where she stars as the character Rosemary alongside Meryl Streep, Jeff Bridges and Katie Holmes.

The film is set to hit theaters on Aug. 15.

Swift is a devoted supporter of public libraries, offering book donations to those in her hometown of Reading, Pennsylvania.

More than 200 celebrities, musicians and cultural icons have stepped up since 1985 to participate in the ALA Celebrity Read campaign.
