‘America’s Got Talent’ Recap: Another 8 Acts Meet The Chopping Block

And then there were four. After another set of 12 acts competed on the July 30 episode of ‘America’s Got Talent,’ the hit show had to cut eight acts for the semi-finals. So, did your favorite(s) stay or go?

Let’s just say this — America’s Got Talent is not playing around anymore. The July 31 results show once again shocked us all. The second round of 12 acts competed July 30 for only four spots in the semi-finals and some of the eliminations left our mouths gaping. In between the shocking exits, Robin Thicke performed his sexy hit single “Blurred Lines” and country crooner Brad Paisley got super sweet with his song “I Can’t Change The World.”

Narrowing Down The Competition On ‘America’s Got Talent’

First up on the potential chopping block was synchronized swimming group Aquanuts, dance/acrobatic team Innovative Force, and hip hop dance group StruckBoyz. In a not-so-surprising reveal, Innovative Force moves on. They were, without a doubt, the best and most exciting performance of the July 30 episode.

Next was the hat trick wizard Kid the Wiz, extreme performer Brad Byers, and multimedia comedian Dave Shirley. America didn’t seem to be a fan of any of them because all three were eliminated.

The Moment Jaws Dropped

This is when things started to get intense on America’s Got Talent. The next group of acts was country singer Marty Brown, sword swallower Alexandr Magala, and the sweet singing ingenue Ciana Pelekai. All three have had really good auditions in the past except Marty’s first live performance fell seriously flat. Both Alexandr and Ciana had terrific live performances.

This is when the nail biting starts. Who stays? Who goes? Why can’t they all stay? America decided to vote…

Marty to the semi-finals! His next performance is definitely going to have to be a redemption act for him. At this point, we are stunned. We thought for sure Alexandr or Ciana would make it through.

Three Acts Left, Only Two Spots Open

The final round of acts consisted of the operatic group Forte, comedienne Angela Hoover, and one hit wonder Tone Tha Chiefrocca. Forte is immediately sent in to the semi-finals.

With one spot left between Angela and Tone, it’s up to the judges to decide. Heidi Klum chooses Tone then Mel B goes with Angela. Howie Mandel is set on Tone and Howard Stern , even after grilling her performance, decides to go with Angela.

It is now switched back to the votes to determine who goes through. America decides to give…drumroll please…Angela another chance at $1 million!

This elimination round has been a rollercoaster of emotions for us. Excuse us while we go catch our breath.

Lauren Silverman Was 'Unhappy in Her Marriage' When She Met Simon Cowell

Simon Cowell has yet to speak out about becoming a father but Lauren Silverman, the woman who is pregnant with his first child, is apparently happy about her relationship with The X Factor judge.

"She is ecstatic to be with Simon," a source tells PEOPLE, adding that Silverman, 36, and Cowell, 53, have been seeing each other for more than a few months.

Although Silverman is still married to a Cowell's friend Andrew Silverman, the source says she and Andrew are in the process of divorcing.

But her affair with Cowell may not have been the only factor in their split.

"It was probably not the best relationship when she first met Simon," the source says of the Silvermans' marriage. "It wasn't like they were blissfully in love at the time."

Adds the source: "She was definitely unhappy in her marriage and it's been a while that the marriage was not great. Andrew is a very nice guy but all marriages don't last."

And reports that Cowell and Andrew were best friends also seem to be overstated. "Andrew and Simon were not best friends," the source says. "They are friends. They have both been vacationing in Barbados for years."

It's true – Chris Traeger and Ann Perkins are peacing out of Pawnee.

A source close to the production confirms to PEOPLE that Rob Lowe and Rashida Jones are set to exit Parks and Recreation .

Buzzfeed, who was first to report the news, says the pair will depart halfway through the NBC sitcom's sixth season – just in time for February sweeps.

Jones, 37, has played the best friend to Amy Poehler's Leslie Knope since the show's premiere, while Lowe, 49, joined during the second season, in what was originally a guest role but transitioned to series regular.

Parks and Recreation's hour-long season premiere, which was filmed in London, airs Sept. 26.

A rep for Jones did not respond to PEOPLE's request for comment, while Lowe's rep referred PEOPLE to NBC.

Randy Travis Discharged from Hospital

A little over three weeks since being hospitalized in Texas, Randy Travis has been discharged and relocated to a physical therapy facility.

"Thanks to all the fans and friends for your continued prayers and support as Randy continues on the road to recovery," the star's fiancée, Mary Davis, said in a statement on Wednesday.

The Grammy winner, 54, was initially admitted for presumptive cardiomyopathy and congestive heart failure. Though he had been improving initially, he suffered a stroke and underwent surgery on July 10 to relieve pressure on his brain.

During his stay at Heart Hospital Baylor Plano in Texas, those closest to him rushed to his side and plenty of famous friends – including Lance Armstrong – passed along their well wishes.

"I said a prayer for him last night," fellow country singer Darius Rucker told PEOPLE. "He's in my prayers, and I wish him nothing but a speedy recovery."

We’re easily distracted and can get “over” trends pretty quickly, but there’s one thing we know we’ll never get sick of: Seeing Kellan Lutz shirtless.

In N.Y.C. with Katrina Bowden to promote their new campaign for Ocean Pacific’s swimwear line on Tuesday, the model-turned-actor worked his fab smile (and even more impressive biceps) while modeling the brand’s board shorts on surfboards.

His favorite pair? “These Surf and Turfs are my favorite … I was working in Bulgaria for Hercules and I [was] just set with these. You never knew if it was gonna rain or not, and I’d be fight training and they’d dry [quickly] when they got sweaty.”

Though the star is constantly cast for body-baring gigs such as Hercules, Tarzan and Calvin Klein, the Twilight hunk says he’d rather not always be so exposed.



When asked what his favorite shirtless ad campaign was, he laughed, “[I prefer] more clothes. It’s not like I prefer to be naked or in my underwear!”

And apparently his philosophy extends to girls as well. “Leaving more to the imagination’s always better. There are girls walking in bikinis with one of those see-through white tops or button-downs. It’s very angelic, I like the way fabrics move in the wind.”

A flip-flops kind of guy himself, the laid-back actor looks for girls who are equally low maintenance. “I was just at the Jay-Z, Justin Timberlake concert in L.A. … [and] you notice all these girls stumbling to walk [in heels] and I’m like, ‘Why? Ariel Winter's Mom Loses Bid to Regain Custody of Modern Family Star

Ariel Winter's mother was denied a request Wednesday to curtail her older daughter's temporary guardianship of the Modern Family star.

The Associated Press reports that Senior Court Judge Michael Levenas stood by his March 29 order allowing Shanelle Gray guardianship over the 15-year-old until Oct. 16. The order stemmed from court documents alleging that Chrisoula Workman physically and emotionally abused her daughter.

Workman has denied the allegations, claiming that the trouble began when she voiced her disapproval over Winter's relationship with actor Cameron Palatas.

The judge said that he had yet to see evidence that Workman had repaired her relationship with her teenage daughter, who has been in her sister's care since October last year, when shocking allegations surfaced in court documents.

An attorney for Winter's sister told the judge last year that Workman "slapped, hit, pushed" her daughter and deprived her of food. Winter obtained a restraining order against her mom, who denied the allegations of abuse.

"I'm the one being abused here," Workman told the AP Wednesday. "I'm doing this for all stage mothers. This could happen to any of them."

The trial concerning whether Gray's guardianship will be made permanent is scheduled for Sept. 16.

For Gavin DeGraw, heartbreak is bittersweet.

The singer says some of his darkest moments have inspired his greatest hits, including 2004's "I Don't Want to Be" and 2011's "Not Over You."

"If [the song] becomes successful, suddenly you're not quite as angry singing it anymore, and you're not quite as frustrated because you're like, 'Wow, I paid my college loans off with that song!' " DeGraw, 36, told PEOPLE at Starwood Preferred Guest's "Hear The Music, See the World" concert series in N.Y.C., where he performed for a crowd that included actor Stanley Tucci.

"You're singing 'I Don't Want to Be,' and you're just not quite as frustrated as you were when you were writing it because ... it really changed my life."

He adds: "It changed my career and altered my reality in a very positive way."

Sharon Stone has one of Hollywood's most enviable bodies – and she credits it to an unconventional workout.

"I put on dance mixes and I really dance my brains out at home because I enjoy that," the actress told PEOPLE at the New York premiere of her upcoming film Lovelace at the Museum of Modern Art on Tuesday.

"That saying – 'Dance like nobody is watching' – I do that. I dance like nobody's watching and I dance hard until I sweat and I think that that’s very good. It’s good for the mind and the body."

Along with her dedication to her dance moves, there's more that keeps Stone, 55, in phenomenal shape.

"I joined a gym," she said. "I used to just do Pilates. I had pilates in my house but I have found that since I've hit 50, that I've felt that I've needed more muscle tone and I started using more weights. So I joined a gym and I do weights. ... I really like it."

In the film, Stone plays Dorothy Boreman, Linda Lovelace's mother, opposite Amanda Seyfried. Lovelace, the biopic about adult film star Linda Lovelace, opens Aug. 9.

Naya Rivera Wears A Bikini As A Top On ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live’

Forget the crop top trend! Apparently it’s all about the bikini top as Naya took her swimwear and turned it into an outfit for an appearance on the late night show. While her toned tummy looks amazing, was her latest look a little too much?

Naya Rivera was scantily clad on July 30 as she headed to an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live in Hollywood. The 26-year-old showed some serious skin wearing a halter bralet and leather skirt. Rather than opt for a crop top like so many stars seem to be doing, she wore a bathing suit as a top.

Hmm…it looks like Naya Rivera forgot to swap her bikini for a top before appearing on Jimmy Kimmel last night. At first we thought the top resembled a bathing suit — and that’s because it is! The Glee star is wearing the Norma Kamali ‘Ruched Halter Bikini Top.’ There’s no denying Rivera has one of the best bodies in Hollywood, but swimwear is never appropriate for a television appearance…even if it’s late at night!

She paired the revealing piece with a knee-length leather pencil skirt. We love the black skirt because it’s stylish, form-fitting and hugs the actress in all the right places. We also love her gold ankle-strap heels and Dolce & Gabbana doctor bag. We just wished Rivera would have swapped out the water gear before her appearance.

From crop tops to bralets, we know the midriff movement is in full effect, but we just think this is a little extreme. We vote tacky! However, her sleek ‘do and natural makeup were a total hit, which were one of our favorite parts about the look.
