"Our son is a beautiful Thanksgiving and Christmas gift," Dr. Petit, 57, said in a statement. "He is very loveable and sweet."
Dr. Petit lost his first wife, Jennifer, 48, and daughters Hayley, 17, and Michaela, 11, in a brutal home invasion in July 2007. He married Christine Paluf, a photographer, in August 2012.
In August, they announced Christine's pregnancy, saying she was due the first week of December. He was born on Saturday via C-section at 2:24 a.m. at the Hospital of Central Connecticut in New Britain.
He weighed 6 lbs. 14 oz. and measured 19".
"I'm filled with happiness and so grateful for his health," Christine, 36, said in the statement. "He's so gentle, tiny and adorable."
"He has his father's nose," she added, "but his long fingers will either play piano like his Mom or basketball like his Dad."
The Petits head home with him today.
"I will tell him of his two big sisters, Hayley and Michaela, and how they always helped others with smiles on their faces," Dr. Petit said.
"I am sure they and their mother, Jennifer, are smiling down upon him," he said.
