On Friday, daughter Melissa Rivers issued an update on her mother's health, saying in a statement: "My mother would be so touched by the tributes and prayers that we have received from around the world. Her condition remains serious but she is receiving the best treatment and care possible. We ask that you continue to keep her in your thoughts as we pray for her recovery."
The comedian, 81, was rushed to Mount Sinai Hospital after she stopped breathing during throat surgery. She was reportedly undergoing a procedure on her vocal cords.
Her condition was later upgraded from critical to stable, and she has since reportedly been placed in a medically induced coma.
On Thursday evening, Melissa arrived at the hospital, where she thanked well-wishers for their continued concern.
"I want to thank everyone for the overwhelming love and support for my mother," Melissa said in a statement. "She is resting comfortably and is with our family."
