Though Jamison joined Survivor after they recorded their biggest hit, the Grammy-winning "Eye of the Tiger" (which appeared on the soundtrack of Rocky III) in 1984, he recorded three albums with the band: Vital Signs in 1984, When Seconds Count in 1986, and Too Hot to Sleep in 1988.
Jamison sang lead vocals for Survivor hits like "The Moment of Truth" from The Karate Kid, "Is This Love" and "Burning Heart" from Rocky IV.
Jamison also recorded "I'm Always Here," the theme song for Baywatch, as a solo artist.
During Jamison's tenure, the group had hits with "I Can't Hold Back," "High on You," and "The Search Is Over," all from Vital Signs.
Survivor disbanded in 1989, though they reunited with original lead singer David Bickler (who left the band post-"Eye" after developing vocal chord polyps) in 1993. This created two versions of Survivor, with Jamison- and Bickler-led versions of the band touring simultaneously throughout the '90s.
Jamison eventually rejoined Survivor in 2000, after their legal issues were settled when guitarist Frankie Sullivan assumed ownership of the band's name. Recently, the group had been touring and performing amicably with both Bickler and Jamison.
The band performed in Morgan Hill, California on August 30, and they were scheduled to begin another tour on September 12 in Parker, Colorado.
