You think you’re a “Last Night’s Look: Love It or Leave It” addict? You should stop by the office sometime to see us passionately debating, defending and delighting in celeb styles — the good, the bad and the wacky. This week, we round up two looks we were loving and one that didn’t quite do it for us — check ‘em out below and let us know your faves in the comments!

Kerry Washington’s New Take on Peplum: I know we’re all getting a wee bit tired of peplums, but hear me out. This Giles Deacon frock has one, yes, but it has so much more. First of all, the flounce itself is less-structured than the frills of awards seasons past, and its longer length makes it feel almost ’50s. It’s the rest of the look that’s forward looking: there’s a cool water-color pattern if you look up close, a kind of denim texture. And yep, I’m into that scuba-like bodice. Kerry’s also rocking an awesome Belle from Beauty and the Beast vibe with the hair, but I would’ve ditched the teeny braid. Ultimately what this look shows is commitment to trying nearly-tired trends—peplums and fat, filled-out fishtails–in new ways. —Catherine Kast, Writer-Reporter

Love It: Jessica Chastain’s Pink-and-Red Perfection: I generally approve of Jessica Chastain’s classic-with-a-twist style — she’s got the great hair and regal posture to make anything look like million bucks. But I was an especially big fan of this week’s outfit at the San Sebastian Film Festival. In vivid shades of pink and red, her DSquared2 dress made her look like a Valentine to the gods of good taste, and the only thing I hated about her perfectly-matched Christian Louboutins (with little flowers at the ankle!) was that they aren’t in my closet. –Alex Apatoff, Senior Style Editorr

Uma Thurman’s Business-Chic Gone Bad: These pieces on their own would have been fabulous, but all together, Uma Thurman looks like a fashion victim. The neck-tie blouse and ill-fitting blazer distract me from her fabulous lace skirt. With a different top (and a proper blowout), this look could have gone in a way better, chicer direction. –Brittany Talarico, Associate Style Editor
