Julianne Hough's DWTS Week Two Look Was 'Post-Apocalyptic Princess'

Julianne Hough kicked off her second week on the Dancing with the Stars judging panel, in another sequined number — though this week her look was less va-va-voom and more sugar-sweet. Check out all the scoop from her glam squad, below!

“This gorgeous Georges Hobeika dress has a really soft element to it, thanks to the tea-length skirt, the pastel seafoam green and of course, the beaded bust,” says stylist Anita Patrickson. “Julianne looks great in pastels — this minty green really pulls out the blue in her eyes and her gorgeous blonde hair so we loved the idea of this look even before we tried it. The shape of the dress felt right for Dancing with the Stars and we loved the sweet yet sexy, ladylike ’50s feel it evoked. We accessorized with simple Stuart Weitzman “Nudist” heels, an ear cuff and a double finger ring made with raw stones in the same green as her dress.”

Patrickson added that she turned to Hough’s beauty and hair team to keep the look from giving viewers a toothache. “To make sure it didn’t fall into the ‘princess-y’ zone, Riawna [Capri] created an edgy knotted braid and Molly [Stern] played with a brown smudged smokey eye.”

Above, Stern and Capri give Hough a look Stern called “post-apocalyptic princess … I wanted to use tones that could theoretically be found from crushed flowers and the earth, as if all she had left after the destruction was a Khol liner and a princess dress. Everything else had to be drawn from natural elements.” (That’s why they call them “makeup artists!”

Echoes Capri, “The dress decided this look! A braid seemed too princess-y, and we wanted to add an edge to it, so rough knots were the perfect blend between the two. Messy texture was created with a 3/4-in. barrel curling iron and sprayed-in KMS Sea Salt Spray. I polished it off with Unite Shine spray for a glow.”

Hough was a huge fan herself: “I absolutely loved the shape of this George Hobeika dress! I felt sexy but also very ladylike. The intricate beading on the bust made the dress feel extra-special. It was the perfect choice for dancing with the stars and this minty pastel green is one of my favorites.” Who else seemed to love the look? Co-judge Bruno Tonioli, who showed up to escort Hough to her seat on the judging panel (and gave her a run for her money in the style department!).
