Now she's really a teenager.

Bindi Irwin has taken up her beloved father's mission of preserving wildlife, but she's about to embark on a different adventure: ruling the road.

The young conservationist just got her driving learner's permit, as she excitedly announced (along with a beaming photo) when she turned 16 on Thursday.

"It's official! I passed!! 16 is feeling good, hello L plates," she Tweeted.

How else did she celebrate her big birthday? Nothing too wild: a meet-and-greet with fans at the Australia Zoo, a cup of tea, a YA novel and some tasty-looking Chinese food, she shared on Twitter and Instagram.

The daughter of late Crocodile Hunter Steve Irwin, Bindi recently opened up about how she carries on her dad's legacy eight years after he was killed by a stingray during a freak accident.

"When you lose a loved one, you come to these crossroads," she told PEOPLE. "You can take the path that leads you down the aisle of sadness, or you can say, 'I'm never going to let this person's memory die. I'm going to make sure everything they worked for continues.' "
